We're excited to share another week of news & ideas with our MAiZE family. There never seems to be a shortage of ideas and the truth is that some of the best originate with all of you! So, if you ever have an idea you'd like us to pass along to the group, please just send it our way. Also, please remember that we'll be archiving these ideas on the siteowner web site, so that you can go back and view them whenever you like.

Idea of the Week: Is Your Farm Page Ready for Timeline?
|
|
|
For those who've been putting off the transition to Facebook's new Timeline layout all pages will be automatically switched over to Timeline on March 30.
To help make sure your farm's page is ready for the transition, if you haven't switched over already, we thought we'd pass along a few tips that were shared with us by our friends at WhizBang Training...
|
|
1. Check Your Profile Picture
Your profile picture is the little square image in the lower left area of the new Page header area. This image is probably the most important one on your Page because it will be the thumbnail image that appears in everyone's news feeds. Make this image something that most of your customers and prospects will quickly and clearly identify as your business. Your profile picture should be a square image, sized at 180 X 180 pixels.
2. Upload a Cover Image
This is the large image that will show up at the top of your page. Be sure to keep Facebook's Cover Design Guidelines in mind. In your cover image do NOT:
- promote offers (40% off)
- don’t list product prices
- give your contact information, including your web address,
- give a call to action, like “Tell A Friend About Us” or “Come In Today”
- encourage visitors to interact with your page, ie “Like Us!” or “Share This”
3. Update Your Business Information
Make sure your "About" section is fully updated. This information will now appear on your wall in a prominent new position right below your profile picture. You'll want your customers to be able to see your correct contact information, location and store hours at a glance.
Some businesses have been putting their web address in the phone number field in order to get that displayed on the wall. You need to consider for yourself – what would you rather have visitors to your page do? Call you or click to your web site? If your website is amazing or has e-commerce on it, perhaps sending customers to your site is more valuable than telling them your phone number. Hint: to make your web address clickable, be sure to include the entire URL starting with http://.
4. Add Some Company History
You will be able to add “milestones” to your new Timeline, even for stuff that happened in the past. You may want to create posts for important company events and history. These milestone posts will be especially powerful and interesting if you can include old photos of the events in your post. A peek into the past is always fun and interesting for your fans.
5. Think Carefully About “Pinning” Posts
Let's say you have posted an update about one of your promotions or special events. Try pinning that event to the top of your page for a day so anyone who visits will see it right away when they visit your page. Posts will stay pinned for up to 7 days, but keep in mind that with a post pinned to the top, the Timeline layout pushes your newer posts "below the fold" where people are less likely to see it. Keeping the same content pinned to the top of your page for a long time could make your Page seem static and inactive.

Final Week to Get Discount on Zombie Safari
|
|
|
Zombie Safari is the creator of a new haunted, interactive paintball experience where you ride on custom-built trailers with mounted paintball guns. The customer's goal is to shoot actual live zombies and targets along the hayride trail.
Because several of you expressed interest, we contacted the vendor about securing a discount for our MAiZE family. What they will offer is an additional $1000 discount (above their current show special pricing that you can view by clicking below) if members of our group order at least 30 trailers (or 15 double trailers).
|
|
They need an initial commitment by April 1. If you are interested in ordering a trailer(s) at the discounted rate, please email brett@themaize.com prior to April 1. If there is enough interest, we will provide details later on how to order directly from this company to secure your discount.
