"Kat Bytes"
the monthly newsletter of StudioKat Designs
Issue #180  July  2020

So here we are... another month has gone by & still we're dealing with this virus mess. I don't know about you but I find that I'm way more high-strung & irritable than usual & so is my husband. And from what I hear, this is quite common right now. So I ran across this advice the other day and I've been trying hard to apply this wisdom to my doings every day... somedays with more success than others.
"In this time of trouble, show yourself grace. Show your spouse or your family grace. Permit and excuse each other’s shortened fuses and little conniptions. We may not be able to control time, but we can control space. And we should give each other that."

July 2020 "Eye Candy"
The bags you see below are among those that customers have shared recently on either our FaceBook business page, our Instagram feed or on our Group page on FaceBook. So thanks to EVERYONE! They were ALL great but here's a few of my favorites!

(For LARGER images: Click on each individual pic)
Beth Hall bought her Sling Along pattern from us in Houston last Fall & due to the quarantine, she found she finally had time to sew it up alongside a friend! She said it was great fun reading the instructions together and can’t wait to make another!

Sally Stults used brocades in both black and in white combined with gold accents to fashion a Gateway that is destined to be a total classic! It’s very dressy and I LOVE it!

And Karla Grady loved our 22″ silver purse zipper w/the “star pulls” SO much that she planned her entire Quattro “look” around them, and it’s a TOTAL success, right?

Nancy Rosa used “a whole bunch of fat quarters” to accomplish this look for her Boho Baguette which just recently became our newest retired pattern. It looks fabulous!
Nancy also made this exquisite Wrapsody while admitting that she’s totally addicted to our patterns. For this amazing bag, Nancy used leftover fabric from another project which couldn’t possibly be as beautiful as THIS project, right?

Debra Ingalls told me she loves changing up the look of an original design just a bit and when she took on our Flaptastic design, she added a little twist lock to one of the flaps! I think it looks great!
How could I resist this beauty of an Odyssey by Nancy Rosa, who seems determined to work her way thru our entire portfolio! Nancy said this bag was challenging but also fun to make!

And if you’re thinking this Walkabout Wallet has Don Distler‘s name written all over it, then you’re RIGHT! Don said he enjoyed using this fabric by Tula Pink but he wasn’t entirely satisfied with the construction! Don is a perfectionist because I’m just not seeing any issues here. Its gorgeous! 🙂

And it only seems fitting this month that we finish
up with two wonderful Sling Along‘s by Nancy Rosa!

And after finishing this, her 2nd Sling Along,
Nancy declared this design to be “great fun to make, ALSO”!

Cats in the News- Betty, the Weather Cat
The "fur-cast" looks good for the career prospects of a charming feline who has become a newly minted “weathercat.” Betty is the cat of Jeff Lyons, the chief meteorologist at NBC affiliate 14 News in Indiana. Lyons has been filming his weather segments from home during the coronavirus pandemic, and his forecasts picked up many new fans after Betty started, well, stealing the show. {Click HERE to read & see more.}

It’s there: in your pocket. On the desk. In the cup holder of the car.You want to use it. Just grab it and alleviate the boredom or discomfort. Might as well check the headlines instead of struggling to type words on a blank screen. And why stay in this tense argument with your spouse when you can see what’s new on Instagram? “Hey, sorry buddy, I can’t play dinosaurs right now — I have to answer this email.”
That’s what our phones have become. An instant escape, and a constant burden. Click HERE to read more.

Scientists are testing everyday items to find the best protection from coronavirus. Pillow cases, flannel pajamas and origami vacuum bags are all candidates.
Federal health officials have now recommended that we cover our faces with fabric during the coronavirus pandemic. But what material offers the most protection?
