Native Plant Conservation Campaign News: Announcing the 2018 Saving Endangered Species Youth Art Contest
January 23, 2018

If you know young artists who make art about endangered plants and wildlife, they may wish to submit pieces to the 2018 Endangered Species Day Youth Art Contest. Entries are due March 1.

The contest is an integral part of the 13th annual Endangered Species Day on May 18, 2018. Details and links below.

From our partners at the Endangered Species Coalition:
Engaging youth in creating art depicting endangered species allows them to research the issues that threaten that species and create art depicting it.

And, they could win a trip to Washington, D.C. to meet with their congressional delegation!

Learn about the 2018 Saving Endangered Species Youth Art Contest

Every year, more than 1,500 students enter the contest. The submissions (here are the 2017 semi-finalists) range from endangered plants to fish to killer whales and hundreds of species in between. The only subject requirement is that the species be currently protected, delisted due to recovery, or a candidate species.

Your organization could organize a group submission of entries from students in your region to represent a species of interest to your work. Or, you could encourage students to learn about the Endangered Species Act and all of the species it has helped protect. If your organization does not have space to add this to a campaign plan, you could share the contest with educators you know.
The 2018 Saving Endangered Species Youth Art Contest is open for submissions until March 1st, 2018.
