Can You Give Your Cat the Flu?

According to Christine Loehr, an associate professor
at the Oregon State University College of Veterinary
Medicine, "We worry a lot about zoonoses, the transmission
of diseases from animals to people. But most people don't
realize that humans can also pass diseases to animals..."

Called zoonoses (Zoh Oh NOH Seez), animal-to-human illness
has always been a big worry. But it can work both ways, as
researchers are just finding out. When we give our pets a
disease, it's called reverse zoonosis.

The most common illness seems to be the flu, especially
the H1N1 strains. Studies suggest there is far more exposure
to flu virus in cats (and some dogs), than anyone knew.

Here is the full story:

What can you do if your cat gets the flu?
Well, according to holistic vets, using L-Lysine (400 mg a day)
can help them overcome the virus. Antibiotics are useless, as
the flu is a virus, and antibiotics are only effective against
bacteria.

Researchers in Japan recently discovered that viewing
cute animal pictures, especially kittens, resulted in an
increased ability to focus and concentrate on a task.

So, if your boss sees you smiling and saying Awwwww... at your
desk, be sure to share this article as proof that you're just
tuning up to do your best work!

TAKE ACTION TO HELP ANIMALS IN NEED
===================================
How to help animals:

Always remember to check with your local shelter
to see what they need. Your donation will go directly
to the animals, in sharp contrast to some of the large
national groups, whose donation income goes toward
large administrative salaries and other expenses, not
necessarily for animals. That said, there is one large
sanctuary I do endorse: http://www.deltarescue.org.

without homes, be loved.
