Romans 8:34 It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
ASCENSION ... INTERCESSION
When human beings are not on good terms, they may use a neutral party to intercede for them. How often doesn't it happen with children that one child comes and pleads on behalf of the other who is in trouble? It happens in the legal world. When in the courtroom, we call upon a lawyer to stand up for us and speak in our behalf. After all, he knows the law and understands the proper order that things proceed.
As human beings we also need someone to intercede for us, to go to the Father for us. The Bible says that Jesus our ascended Lord is that intercessor who speaks for us before the Throne of God. The Apostle Paul comforts us with this fact, when he says,
"What then shall we say to these things?
If God is for us, who can be against us?
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all,
how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
Who shall bring a charge against God's elect? [certainly not God]
It is God who justifies.
Who is he who condemns? [certainly not Christ]
It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen,
who is even at the right hand of God,
who also makes intercession for us" (Romans 8:31-34).
We may have this confidence, that when the day of Judgment arrives, Jesus will once more intercede for us, pleading His own suffering and death on our behalf.
So Jesus has not only reconciled us to God,
still our ascended Lord works earnestly for us,
still He speaks for His people and intercedes for us.
