Announcements...
Forte Organizers on location during the shooting of two National TV shows. Lori will be featured as the lead organizer in an upcoming episode of Hoarding: Buried Alive, helping overwhelmed homeowners take control of their space. The show should air in January or February of 2012.
Also in November, Lori was part of a team that traveled to Burlington, KY to film a segment for the Anderson Cooper Show featuring a family struggling with challenges of life with a hoarder. We will share air times and dates when we learn of them.
Holidays in the Office...
'Tis the season for candy and other holiday treats to start showing up at the office. Be careful bringing these goodies into your office space. Having candy on or near your desk attracts co-workers who, while helping themselves to the candy, often interrupt you while you're working on projects. On average, it takes a person 11 minutes to return to the task they were working on, which eats into your productivity (no pun intended).
Clutter-Free Gift Giving...
Even though our national family size has gotten smaller and our homes have gotten bigger, off-site storage facilities are growing at an alarming rate. Americans simply have too much stuff! With the holidays upon us, more stuff is sure to come our way unless we do something about it now.
This year, why not ask for and give clutter-free gifts instead? Some of our space-savvy favorites include the gift of time; doing a task from your loved one's to do list; helping with home repairs; computer and technology help; delivering a home-cooked meal and offering to babsysit. Treat them to a service such as a cleaning company, lawn care or organizing service. Find out what they enjoy or want to know more about and pay for classes, whether it be a cooking class, fitness trainer or golf lessons.
Happiness is more likely to come from people and experiences rather than from things. Let's spend less time shopping in the mall this holiday season and more time caring for those we love.
I'm collecting questions for a new "Ask the Organizer" section. If you have a question you'd like to ask, please send it to lori@forteorganizers.com and your question might be answered in an upcoming newsletter.
I'd also like to hear your best organizing tip. If you have a great organizing tip, please send it to lori@forteorganizers.com to be considered for a future newsletter post. I'll credit your name, of course, if your tip is featured.
