Hello, Firstname

Wednesday 13 April

Next Wednesday, 13 April, we'll be treated to a presentation by Bill Hall DPAGB EFIAP FBPE who will be giving his talk Wildlife Photography UK
Bill is a sports/action, landscape and wildlife photographer based in the rural village of Stithians, Cornwall. He is a member of Truro C.C. and also a long-standing member of the highly acclaimed Rolls-Royce Derby P.S. contributing to their success.
Bill retired from his job as an aerospace engineer in 2018 and moved from the Midlands to Cornwall, where he is enjoying a new lease of life with his photography of the local wildlife, where he has set up hides and also enjoys photographing coastal and marine life there.
He is actively involved with the Cornwall Wildlife Trust and their photo group, where Bill has had images published for their calendar and used as Christmas cards to raise funds.
Bill has been awarded the distinctions of DPAGB EFIAP FBPE, and is a PAGB judge, having selected at many exhibitions and salons, especially as a nature specialist, and was one of the selectors for that section at the 2021 Bristol Salon. He has also judged the GB Cup for nature

DI Group

Digital Imaging Group: Zoom meeting - 11 April 7.30 pm

Last month the presentations at the DI meeting were packed full of wonderful images from members. Colin showed his creative portraits while Rachel showed how a mundane pond can be a source of inspiring images. Jeff’s images of Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine after the accident were a poignant reminder of how one man made industrial disaster followed by another current political one can render a place inaccessible almost indefinitely. These were just a few of the presentations.

Next Monday, 11 April at 7.30 pm is time for the Digital Imaging Group (Zoom) meeting again. All members are invited to join the meeting. If you like to show your images for others to enjoy and admire or have constructive comments from fellow members in an informal environment, please feel free to send them to me for presentation. If you want to seek advice on any of your images or just sit and watch, you are also welcome.

As usual please send your images to me by Sunday 10 April, by 6 pm. Images: JPG format, sRGB colour space, 1600 x 1200 pixels (same as competitions but not strict), prefix filenames with 01, 02, 03 etc. if you wish to show them in that order. Email attachment size - max 20Mb per email, but as many as necessary.

This Weekend! RPS Western Region

A MARVELLOUS THEATRE EVENT you don’t want to miss

After numerous requests we have brought back the amazing photographer, Mike Kwasniak FRPS, who will bring us stories of dealing with whatever obstacles, however dark the lighting conditions, or how frenzied the action, “you still have to get a good picture”.

In his presentation Mike will share some of his spectacular images along with a little bit of theatre history, an illustration of the challenges, a few anecdotes, a bit of gossip, a horror story or two, a peek inside his camera bag and an explanation of his nail-biting path to becoming an FRPS.

This promises to be very different and supremely entertaining.

A Shot in the Dark, Sunday 10 April, 10:30 am to 12:30 pm

Use the Book Online button to register for the Zoom presentation before midnight on Saturday 9 April  https://rps.org/WREventApr22/

Trumpet Bowers' Corner
Salon acceptances: BPS photographers are now achieving large numbers of salon acceptances and constraints on time and space mean we can't include them all. So please only advise of awards or other milestones.
Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue
