SUPPORT OUR 21ST YEAR • DIARY DATE • COMING TO DUBLIN TO VISIT IN MAY? • BE OUR VALENTINE VOUNTEER

It is almost Valentines Day and we’d like to pop the questions, a few actually. We are on our way! We begin our 21st year with in our traditional way with our Annual Table Quiz. Once again there is a warm welcome for us in Street 66 who host us and we are ready to go on Thursday, February 22nd, doors at 7.30pm, Quiz starts at 8pm. We will have lots of prizes, a raffle and great fun.

You can get in ahead of the others by reserving a table of Four for €40 (payable on the Night) by emailing:
quiz@gaytheatre.ie.

We are always looking for sponsors for our Festival. Get an ad in the brochure, a presence on our website and visibility for your company every day during our 15 day celebration from May 6-19th 2024.

Contact admin@gaytheatre.ie if you, your business, or your company want to be a proud sponsor of our 21st year.

Our techies are great! These are the people who work with our companies to make sure that the show goes on. We’ve already had one training session in the Ireland Institute this month and our volunteers learned about staging, lights, sound and safety under the expert guidance of our Tech Directors RC Bates and Derek O’Neill. There is still time to volunteer, to attend the next training session and learn so email tech@gaytheatre.ie and join the crew!

Many of you know an LGBT+ staff network or are part of an arts, sporting or social club. Now is the time to plan a social event during the two weeks of our unique festival. There will be at- least 10 plays on every night and some matinees from MAY 6-11TH with a brand new programme of great theatre on our stages from May 13th-18th.

Now is the time to plan your visit by telling your colleagues you are all going out for a great value night during the 21st Gay Theatre Festival! You can actually see every play in the programme if you schedule your visit and don’t forget we have matinees on Bank Holiday Monday May 6th and on both Saturday May 11th and 18th. So, you can see four plays in one day! Great value venue tickets and matinee prices means you won’t find a better entertainment deal in Dublin.

We will be announcing the programme next month and will let you know when the online box-office opens, but…here is a sneak preview of what we have in store:

We are delighted with the number of New Irish Companies who are embracing our theatrical genre, with new Irish LGBT+ themed writing. We are thrilled with this development and look forward to welcoming a big cohort of  new Irish writing and companies to our stages in May.

We are hugely impressed with our new team of plays written and about women. Will 2024 be our strongest programme yet? New Irish and international writers will present an array of new plays which have a broad appeal. We can’t wait to showcase these important works!

Our super talented international contingent is as exciting and as diverse as ever… LGBT+ plays are coming to Dublin from the England and Scotland, Australia, South Africa, Sweden, Greece, with cultural themes and stories from as far away as the Philippines, Nigeria and Spain. There is music this year, comedy and drama.

Keep an eye out on our social media and on our website www.gaytheatre.ie for updates.
