ULSTER BANK OPENS ATM NETWORK TO CHARITABLE GIVING SCHEME
Ulster Bank has become the first bank in Ireland to enable its customers donate to charities at any of its ATMs. The Bank’s ATM Giving Scheme works throughout its ATM network in both the Republic of Ireland and in Northern Ireland.
Pauline McKiernan, Community Affairs Manager, Ulster Bank Group says the ATM Giving Scheme will make it easy for customers to make a charitable donation to a choice of eight of the most popular charities in the Republic of Ireland.
“Our customers will be able to donate between €1 and €250 in any one transaction to one of the eight charities,” says Ms McKiernan.
The eight charities included in Ulster Bank’s ATM Giving Scheme are:
- Rehab
- Barnardos
- Irish Cancer Society
- Concern Worldwide
- Irish Heart Foundation
- Irish Hospice Foundation
- Society of Saint Vincent de Paul
- Simon Communities of Ireland
Customers donating to charity through Ulster Bank’s ATM’s will not incur any service charges or transaction fees, and it’s as easy as making an ATM cash withdrawal.
“Customers will see the option “Donate to a Charity” clearly displayed on the same screen as other options like “Cash Withdrawal” and “Pay Bill”.
“By selecting the charity option, the screen prompts customers to select a donation amount, their chosen charity and, once these are confirmed, the transaction is complete. Customers can also print their donation receipt,” says Ms McKiernan.
The Wheel, a national body representing over 900 charities, says the scheme will be welcomed by the charity sector.
“We welcome any innovations that will help charities fundraise more easily and effectively”, Deirdre Garvey, Chief Executive of The Wheel commented. “We are delighted to see this development which gives the public a new and easy way to donate to their favourite causes”.
