Hello Firstname
Wednesday 24 October
This Wednesday we have a visit from the far North (West Cumbria) by Tony Potter, ARPS DPAGB AFIAP. Tony will be bringing prints from the Great British Small Print Competition (GBSPC) and the Solway Print Salon. These Salons have been a good hunting grounds for exhibition acceptances by BPS members so it should prove to be an interesting evening. Members going for FIAP distinctions might also be doubly interested, as FIAP are to introduce the requirement for 10% of acceptances to be prints and the GBSPC is an ideal & cheap way to do this.

Derek Rodway FRPS
Many of the more senior members of the Society will remember an old friend of BPS, from across the water, Derek Rodway from Newport Camera Club; they may also have been aware that for sometime Derek had been suffering from Parkinsons Disease and had been living in a nursing home. I have been told that Derek passed away last week. For those of you who have been around camera clubs for while, you will remember Derek’s wonderful photography, his informative talks and the way he helped so many people with their photography and gaining of honours. He was a genuine and helpful man and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Trumpet Blowers' Corner
Sue O’Connell has recently been gaining much success abroad on the international exhibition circuit and has recently gained quite a number of acceptances. These include: AC-Foto German mega circuit (an Honourable Mention + 20 acceptances), Chung Ai (Canada) (1), Swansea (4), Finland (5), Malmo (1) – well done Sue, you’ll soon be nipping at the heels of those members a bit longer in the tooth than you!

If you want to blow your own trumpet or, dare I say such a thing, blow someone else's trumpet for them, then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include it in the next issue.
