9/10/18
It is a busy week as we get ready for Homecoming week which is next week.

Our annual 9/11 lunch is tomorrow. We are hoping that many of our first responders can attend. It is great to have the kids see these men and women as being part of the school community. It also serves to give our kids the opportunity to understand the impact on 9/11.

If you have a student who struggles to get involved in something, please encourage him/her to volunteer on the float building activities for Spirit Week. It is a lot of fun and kids make many new connections that they wouldn't have made previously. All students are welcomed with open arms. Encourage them to see their advisors who are listed below.
Freshmen - Jane Cook
Sophomores - Chris Gleason
Juniors - Kristi Bartolimeoli
Seniors - Mary Pekel

Junior and Senior Powder Puff practice is Thursday at 6:45 at the football practice field. The girls must be signed up prior to practice. There is a $10 fee for shirts. If your student can't afford it, please have her see me.

On Friday, we began our school-wide programming on the idea of tolerance. We are using the book "Night" to detail what happens to a society when we begin to "otherise" people. "Night" is the first-hand account of Elie Wiesel who lived through the Holocaust. We began with a little background about Mr. Wiesel and a video on the Holocaust. While we are using this book study to fulfill our state required Holocaust education requirements, we are also going to look at it as a way to grow our understanding of the world and the people in it.
