Featured Local Vendor: Kacey Cakes

We are proud to offer local Kacey Cakes’ raw, vegan, organic, gluten-free, non-GMO, and refined sugar-free desserts here at SLO Natural Foods Co-op.

From June 7 – June 20, select desserts will be on sale:

Peanut Butter Cups (container of 5), reg $7.99, sale $6.69
Chocolate Cream Hazelnut & Lemon Coconut Mini Cakes, reg $4.49, sale $3.69

Kacey Cakes desserts are delectable, beautiful, and made from the best ingredients. It all started about five years ago when Kacey Skinner wanted to create a dessert that her brother-in-law could enjoy along with the rest of the family. So Kacey started experimenting with raw and vegan ingredients; making these desserts became something of a hobby, which eventually led to a job at Bliss Café where she served as the dessert manager for three years. This was a great opportunity for Kacey because she was given free rein to create and experiment; she really learned a lot about what customers like and how to substitute different ingredients in her desserts.

Eventually Kacey decided to branch out on her own and she and her husband Bryan Wells have been running Kacey Cakes for the last two years. All of the desserts are raw, vegan, organic, gluten-free, and non-GMO, and she sources most of her ingredients locally. Kacey uses no refined sugar, and instead uses maple syrup and dates to sweeten her desserts. Kacey develops and creates the desserts and Bryan works on the business side doing accounting, marketing, and other tasks. In addition to supplying select delis and cafes from Cambria to Pasadena, Kacey Cakes creates desserts for special occasions such as weddings, birthdays, and graduation, as well as catering special events and festivals. Other desserts are available as special orders such as Tiramisu, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake, and more.

As busy as Kacey and Bryan are, we’re happy that they can keep us with a steady supply of desserts here at the Co-op! We have a wonderful selection of Kacey Cakes desserts for you to choose from: Peanut Butter Cups and Mini Cakes in several varieties. You'll find them in the refrigerated Grab and Go case near the first register.
