Well, another winter weather advisory! Ugh! The good news is that we are in March! The days are getting longer, the cold can't stay forever and eventually, the sun will come out. We'll get there! I have no news to report on the extension of the school year. We are waiting for a number of bills to move through the Michigan legislature before making any final decisions. We have used 10 days if I am counting correctly which means even with the waiver, we'll be adding a day somewhere if the bills don't make their way to the governor's desk. We'll get through it.

The School Accountability report came out and FHS looks really good. I'm proud of our staff and kids. They have all worked really hard. There is one issue with the data that we are asking the State to take a look at: Teacher retention. The State has us losing a large number of teachers last year and we retained all teachers for last year. Something is obviously wrong with the data.

The students are starting to talk about Spring Break. With the college kids being off last week and this week, it gets the high school kids buzzing.

We are gearing up for the SAT. We administer the SAT the week we return from Spring Break (State mandate - we don't pick the date). Students all have Khan Academy accounts. Please encourage your student to use their account. It really does help.
