Dear members,

It is with great pleasure that I announce this year's student honorarium winners!

Bruce Benward Student Honorarium:
Jennifer Edmondson, Iowa State University, student of MACRO member Kristy Bryden

Jennifer Edmondson is among the top students at Iowa State University. Her GPA of 3.9/4.0 attests well to her outstanding academic abilities. In addition to her academic excellence, Jennifer has an easily approachable personality and sense of compassion for others that will serve her well in becoming an educator that can truly make a difference in the lives of her students. She is not only a fine young composer with excellent potential for a career in the field, but she is also a superb pianist, an excellent student scholar and a marvelous human being. Jennifer has received a number of composition awards since 2003 including winning the 2006 Iowa Composers Forum's Marilynn Etzel College Scholarship Competition. The piece submitted to the competition, Three Preludes for solo piano, was selected for performance at the Iowa Composers Forum's 20th Anniversary Festival of New Music in November 2007.

Robert Fountain Student Honorarium:
Nabil Pettit, Truman State University, student of MACRO member Warren Gooch

Nabil Pettit is among the finest students At Truman State. He is currently pursuing the BM in piano performance. Academically, he has a 4.0 GPA and is brilliant in the classroom because he immediately grasps concepts, and he has the ability to apply them in a variety of creative situations. He has presented an exemplary lecture-performance on Scarlatti Sonatas during our Student Research Symposium and last year he won the Concerto-Aria Competition. As a result, he performed the first movement of Robert Muczynski's Concerto No. 1 for Piano and Orchestra with our Truman State University Symphony Orchestra. Nabil is also a fine student theorist and has been hired as a Music Theory mentor. In this position, he works with a group of five students on a weekly basis, supervising group projects and assisting with aural skills and analysis homework. He is popular and well respected by his students.

Congratulations on all of your hard work and accomplishments Jennifer and Nabil!
