This is a competiton for PSA member clubs globally and deservedly the BPS website gained an HM in the Large Clubs section. The full scoresheet is attached to this newsletter from which can be seen the very high number of maximum scores.

Creative Competition - Bob Faris Trophy
CREATIVE COMPETITION
CHANGED DEADLINE AND ELIGIBILITY REMINDER
DEADLINE NOW SATURDAY
The deadline for this competition has been revised to Midnight Saturday 19 June. This is partly because many who entered images in the ‘Creative’ prescribed section of the Bi-Monthly competition last September, may not have realised that the image entered then remains eligible for this competition. That applies even to award winners last time.  So the date has been extended for them, and everyone, to have a go. You can enter up to 3 images.
For convenience the judge this year is the winner of last year’s competition. That expectation is not set in stone however. Entrants should not feel constrained by the inevitability of judging if they win this time round! Below is the article that appeared last week.

The closing date for the Creative Competition is now SATURDAY, 19 June.
Coronavirus put paid to the competition last year, but we are now hoping for a bumper crop of entries to celebrate the late Bob Faris who instigated the competition and designed and donated the splendid trophy.

Now could be your chance to wrest that trophy from the hands of Barry Mead, who will not be competing but will be the judge.

As with all our competitions this year, all entries must be digital images. Here are the rules:
For this competition, a submitted image must have originated as a photographic image or images, produced either in camera or by post processing. All images must be original and may not incorporate elements produced by anyone else. Artwork or computer graphics generated by the entrant may be incorporated so long as the original photographic content predominates. Digital skills should be seen as the tools to compose photographic images into one new single image. The final composition will show the photographer’s artistic interpretation.

This is an Open competition, with no levels of entry.
Images may have been entered into any previous club competition and may be entered into any subsequent bi-monthly or annual competition, other than this one.
The Trophy winner will not be eligible to enter the next two Creative Competitions.
Each entrant may submit up to three images.

Please submit your images in the usual way to competitions@bristolphoto.org.uk by 16 June. We hope to see everything from the profoundly deranged to the delicately strange.  Penguins are not obligatory.

Inter-Club PDI Championship Entry 2021 – 17 July 2021
You may recall when we won DPIC earlier this year; that qualified us to compete in the above as one of the two clubs in each federation in the above national battle to be judged live via zoom.  It's an interesting day, with 3 rounds; round 1 – 8 images (no more than 2 nature); round 2 – a further 8 images. Top clubs after these two rounds compete in a final battle using 20 images (10 of which must be previously un-used)!

Mike will be finalising our pool of 40 images over the next couple of weeks – watch for details.

Kingswood Salver – 13 Nov 2021
OK, this is some way off, but following our fantastic win last year, we need to start thinking about how we can pull together a panel (five images from 5 different photographers) for this year.
Here’s a few ideas to get you started:  Characterful portraits, male or female; architecture; abstract; etc.  Watch for the President Cup competition, particularly if you have images that potentially could fit any of those subjects.
If anyone has any ideas of a theme please let Mike know... remember it has to be broad enough that others can provide complementary images. Feel free to send Mike any suggestions and / or few thumbnails.

Trumpet Blowers' Corner
Last week I reported BPS successes in the Masters of Print Competition. Unfortunately the list produced by Rod Whelans was a tad ambiguous and what I showed was the total number of acceptances sice the exhibition's inception. This year the only BPS acceptance was by Sandie Cox - well done Sandie and sorry for buildimg up otrhers; hopes!

Salon acceptances: BPS photographers are now achieving large numbers of salon acceptances and constraints on time and space mean we can't include them all. So please only advise of awards or other milestones.

Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.

Make Money For BPS Every Time You Shop On Amazon!
Now we're all still in lockdown, the thought of on-line shopping must be looming large in many members' minds. It's worth remembering that if you so wish, each and every one of you can support BPS with every purchase you make on Amazon by using Amazon Smile. Click on the link below – then it’s self-explanatory.
Shopping using Smile is no different to your normal Amazon shopping and costs you nothing, it's just that you need to tell it that you wish to use Smile and then we get some pennies!

For Sale
If you have any photographic items for sale, drop me a line and I'll include it in the next newsletter. Please make sure that you provide contact details, price and full description of the sale items (pictures always help).

Photographic Acronyms
For those of you who aren't sure what MPAGB, EFIAP/s and many more such seemingly random collections of letters mean, just click here to see the list.
