2 Timothy 1:10 ... our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
DEATH DESTROYED
The "Star Wars" series is one of the most popular fictional sagas of all time. The fantasy of a weapon the size of a small star meant to annihilate and destroy entire planets and worlds brings an unparalleled darkness to the evil of "Darth Vader" and his "Death Star." Spoiler alert: Unfortunately, the multiple destructions of the various "Death Stars" are only temporary. It isn't long before "the Empire" and other evil forces strike back again and again.
Unfortunately, death and the hell-bent terrorism of the Devil are not even close to fictional. His psychotic deceit and crafted lies continue in full force since the Fall of our oldest ancestors, Adam and Eve. Satan's sadistic intent is the destruction of our world and the annihilation of all mankind, God's special creation. How that Devil and his fallen angels must have rejoiced in God's punishment of death for the disobedience of sin! Your sinful nature, your soul, because of this fall and your daily sin, is God's enemy (Romans 8:7). The plan and purpose of our enemy the Devil, was to use God's punishment of death to send us to the eternal punishment of hell (originally meant only for him and his demons, see Matthew 25:41).
But, you and I can boldly tell that Devil: "Spoiler alert: You lost!" On Calvary's cross Jesus paid the full price for our sins, buying us back from the grip of our wicked father, the Devil. Though the Devil may attempt to strike back again and again with his temptations and lusts to draw us to the dark side away from our Savior, the promises and comfort of Christ's forgiveness and peace cannot be destroyed! The light of God's word promises, "The last enemy that will be destroyed is death" (1 Corinthians 15:26). Unlike the "Death Star," when you reach heaven, death no longer exists. 2 Timothy 1:10 says, "But it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel." Immortality literally means "no death," eternal life!
Thank and share Jesus again today in view of His Easter Sunday victory over death, His resurrection from the grave. Be at peace. In Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, death is destroyed once and for all--for you!
