Luke 11:13 "If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"
PRAY FOR THE SPIRIT
Christians offer many prayers to God each and every day. Sometimes when we ask for things, we do not know for sure if God will grant our request exactly as we ask it. If we pray for a new job, or another child, or other earthly things, we pray with a "Your will be done" attitude. We recognize that God will grant us what we need at His own time and in His own way. His answer to a specific request might be "no," but we are confident He answers to our good.
There are, however, certain things we can pray for that God will grant to us anytime, anywhere -- because they are things He has promised to give to His dear children already. Jesus said, ". . . how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" What a wonderful promise! When we pray that God would send us His Holy Spirit, He does!
Do you seek more spiritual wisdom? Seek the Spirit. Do you need encouragement? Pray that the Spirit would speak to your heart through the Scriptures. Do you want peace of mind, strength to stand against Satan, or a better understanding of the Bible? Pray that the Holy Spirit would work these things in you. He can do all these things and more.
