Proverbs 2:6 For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

YOUR FUTURE IS UP!

Many people these days like to find out about their fortune and future. They consult horoscopes, mediums and psychics, and fall into all kinds of superstition in trying to get an edge on knowledge about their destiny. But there's a far superior way to know about our future, and to know it with certainty and full assurance. David's son, Solomon, lived over nine hundred years before the birth of Christ. When he became king he was given an opportunity from the LORD to have literally anything he wanted. Instead of asking for great wealth, extended life, or any other selfish gain, Solomon asked for wisdom to rule God’s people. So that's exactly what the LORD gave him, wisdom. Wisdom that was far superior to any other wisdom this world has seen -- apart from God's Son, Jesus the Christ.

When Solomon wrote the book of Proverbs, the Lord inspired him to demonstrate the divine wisdom he had been given. In the first verses of chapter two, Solomon speaks about treasuring up the wisdom of God's Word and Commandments. Treasuring this Biblical wisdom means that I "listen up" when God's wisdom is spoken -- that I lift up prayers for wisdom. And that I both dig out and store up wisdom, since it is even more precious than silver or gold. What does Solomon say I will then find ? Well, I will certainly discover plenty of times in my life where I didn't do these things or do them well. That plenty of times each day I make not wise, but foolish decisions, decisions that don't reflect the wisdom that Christ gives. But true Godly wisdom, I learn here again today, doesn't look within self. "For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding."

Wisdom doesn't come from within. Wisdom comes from our LORD and our Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus reminds us, "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" (Matthew 6:19-21). Jesus assures me that my future is up! As I seek out His heavenly treasure, I discover the deep riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of His love, mercy-- and the gift of eternal life!
