Subject: |
Cellular Applications for SCADA |
||||||||||||||||
Traditional systems of using leased-line or dial-up modems for wide-area network SCADA applications are being phased out in favor of lower-cost higher bandwidth WANs. However, the wireless technologies offered today are rapidly evolving and often confusing. Point to Point/Multipoint private wireless systems, offer some benefits over legacy telephone wire systems, but require line-of-sight design over a crowded frequency range. We will discuss existing and emerging cellular technology with application examples from some key verticals such as petrochemical, tank monitoring, fleet management and smart-energy industries. We will have a live demonstration of a a Web-Enabled PLC system monitored and controlled over a Cellular link. |
