2 Samuel 23:2 The Spirit of the LORD spoke by me, and His word was on my tongue.

SING TO THE LORD AN OLD SONG

Do you feel good today? Are you healthy and content? Are things going well for you? Then find one of David's psalms of praise and thanksgiving and glorify your God. The Lord God will be pleased with your prayer, for it is the Spirit's own prayer that you will be praying.

Are you feeling down? Are you sad about something, troubled, worried, perhaps angry? Again you can find a psalm of David to match your mood, and you can pour out your heart to God in the words given by the Holy Spirit of God, and the Lord will be pleased with your sighs and your cries for help and relief.

Do your sins trouble you? Do you have a guilty conscience? Then take up one of David's psalms of confession and absolution, and be assured of your forgiveness through the mercy of God. For it is the Holy Spirit in the Psalm telling you that your sins are forgiven.

One of the main themes of David's psalms was, of course, the true Anointed One, the Promised Messiah, David's Son and David's Lord. As the apostle Peter said on Pentecost: "Let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne, he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ." And of course David spoke of Jesus' death also. So take up one of David's Messianic psalms, and praise and glorify your Savior, David's Son.
