Summer 2009 Ranger Report - Special Double Issue!

A big summer "Hi" to all of you "Tee-Heads" out there!

First of all, I want to thank everyone who sent their condolences on the passing of my dear sister Susan. Many of you sent cards, letters, e-mails and came up to me at Manatees shows to express your sympathy. Manatees fans are some of the kindest and sweetest people in the world.

As some of you may know, in the last two weeks I was stricken with some still-undiagnosed illness. I believe it was some kind of combination of flu, hives, lyme disease and the plague. I had to cancel three shows last week but I am happy to report that I am now on the mend thanks to the help of a native American medicine man whose name I can't pronounce.

This Saturday, June 27, The Mighty Manatees will be performing at The 4th Annual Who Hill Splintered Sunlight Family Campout. It is a two-day event that starts on Friday, June 26. There are a dozen acts booked over the weekend! The Mighty Manatees go on Saturday afternoon at 2:00pm. For info & tickets go to www.myspace.com/sharethewine2009 or Annie Who at 267-255-4318. This is a kid-safe zone with food and craft vendors. No dogs, RVs, fireworks or nitrous oxide please. Sound by our own Uncle Ronkle & Karl Frick.

And speaking of Karl Frick, our mighty keyboardist has just finished recording and producing a new CD by Lehigh Valley blues band "Friar's Point" at his Lakestone Studios www.lakestone.info The name of the album is "To The Point". The new CD should be available by the first of August. Way to go, K-Joe!

Another new CD which should be available by the first of August is The Mighty Manatees - Live At Puck! Not to be confused with the "Best Of Puck" CD that came out a few months ago which featured 3 acoustic Manatees songs, this new release is all-electric Manatee music including 5 bonus tracks recorded at The Dutch Tavern. Special guest stars include saxophonist Walter Tate and keyboardist/violinist Jason Crosby. Cover art by Liam Hodgson. Thanks to Slacker!

Manatees Fun Fact: Did you know that Manatees guitarist/vocalist and founding member Ray Adkins sang the Manatees song "Father's Day" at his church on Father's Day last Sunday morning? It's true! The song appears on our new studio CD.

And speaking of our new studio CD....you can still call up Helen Leicht at WXPN-FM weekdays between 11am and 1pm and request a Manatees song from that album. The request line number is 215-573-9976. Call it today!!

Manatees Fun Fact: Did you know that Manatees bassist/vocalist Randy Wagner has begun to play the acoustic stand-up bass at certain Mighty Manatees shows? It's true! Randy purchased the giant instrument earlier this year, installed an electric pick-up, and debuted it at the Skippack Car Show a month ago. He has only been playing it a short time but is already brimming with skill and confidence . Way to go, Captain Randy!
