will be the first anniversary of his death.

ARTIST
Gene Stovall
was inspired to be an artist my his mother, the late Mary Mease
Warren. As a performing artist/singer/songwriter, Stovall's influences
included Ronald Isley and The Isley Brothers, Earth Wind and Fire,
Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Prince, D'Angelo, Jodeci, New
Edition, and Aaron Hall.
"Black
Music Month is very important, not only to me as a Black artist,
but to every musician of the here and now that grew up being molded
by the songs, styles, and attitudes of Black musicians."
Gene Stovall
is currently lead vocalist of Chicago's Scientific Map (rustbelt
soul), Pittsburgh's Fulfillingness (indie melodic), and an up
and coming solo acoustic soul artist. Stovall's been singing in
live bands since 1995. His first band, Jive Family won many awards
and was the first band to creatively mix 9 genres of music together
and play throughout the greater Pittsburgh area. In 2005, Stovall
started the band Eviction Notice with music producer and keyboardist,
J. Armstead Brown, of Rhyme Cal fame. Eviction Notice's members
included Daru Jones, Tim Clark, DJ Huggy, G. Ryin Gaines, DJ Bonics,
and DJ SMI. Stovall released his first live recording, Gene Stovall:
Live at the Shadow Lounge, in 2003. For more information on Stovall,

OF BLACK MUSIC MONTH
June 7, 1979
President Jimmy Carter decreed that June would be the month of
black music. Black Music Month is highlighted with various events
urging citizens to recognize the contribution of America’s
Black Music artist. June is a time to collectively revel in the
many forms of music from gospel to hip-hop. African-American musicians,
singers. Celebrate the music and entertained by the sound.
