1. PET FOOD NEWS & INFO
Did You Know? Most cats are lactose intolerant. Cats are only equipped to digest dairy when they are very young. Even then, they are only meant to drink the milk produced by their own species. Suggested for you: Download this free ebook on feeding your cat, by Dr. Lisa Pierson, at catinfo.org The link is on the first page of the website.

Since most of this month's pet holidays and observances are about health, we will focus on some important issues here.
2. SICK CAT?
Dealing with a sick cat can be challenging, given that we must rely only on the cat’s behavior and physical symptoms. But there are several signs and symptoms to look for:
Noticeable change in mood or behavior. Less energetic. Dilated pupils. Shortness of breath. Sudden weight change. Refusing food and water. Vomiting. Loose bowel movement.
Depending on their condition, it could take time for your cat to regain its strength and heal. Consequently, it’s essential to know how to care for sick cats at home so you’ll be able to comfort them until they recover.
Here are some suggestions you may find helpful when caring for a sick cat: https://www.handicappedpets.com/blog/caring-for-sick-cat/
3. FAT CAT?
Like most adult Americans, most adult cats also are overweight. And again like overweight humans, overweight cats can develop all kinds of health problems such as painful arthritis, heart disease, breathing difficulty, diabetes, and even bladder cancer.
What can you do about it? For helpful suggestions, go to: https://www.wikihow.pet/Help-Your-Cat-Lose-Weight
4. EAR MITES
Home Remedies for Ear Mites
It takes approximately 21 days for ear mites to develop from egg to mature adult. They can live for about two months inside your pet’s ears while they continually reproduce. To effectively eradicate ear mites, treatment must cover the whole life cycle of the mite. Treatment should therefore be followed for 3 weeks (1st week on, 2nd week off, 3rd week on). Remedies you can prepare: olive oil + calendula, coconut oil, diatomaceous earth, baby oil, MCT oil, sweet almond oil, neem oil, or castor oil.
Get Dr. Andrew Jones' free ebook to learn how to use the above remedies along with other health advice. https://www.veterinarysecrets.com/
5. SPAY/NEUTER
If you find yourself with a new kitten in your household, spaying or neutering is something you’ll need to think about soon. But at what age is it appropriate to spay or neuter a cat? More importantly, why should you consider having the procedure done at all? https://www.petmd.com/cat/care/what-age-should-you-spay-or-neuter-your-cat
6. DENTAL CARE
Dental disease in cats can cause serious pain and discomfort, which can impact a cat’s quality of life. In many cases, dental disease causes a cat to stop eating, which leads to a variety of health problems. https://www.vet.cornell.edu/departments-centers-and-institutes/cornell-feline-health-center/health-information/feline-health-topics/feline-dental-disease

How to Hold a Cat:
Cat Friendly U.S. Cities
Did you know?
A 1-year-old kitten is developmentally equivalent to a 15-year-old human. The age-old formula to multiply your cat’s age by seven to convert it into human years is incorrect. Cats do the majority of their “aging” in the first two years of their lives. Then the aging equivalent is in about 4 year multiples.
