A RECIPE FOR THANKSGIVING - #606
From the kitchen of: My Triune God
Serving size: Family
Recipe for: "Sweet tooth destruction"
Ingredients:
James 1:13-15, "Let no one say when he is tempted, 'I am tempted by God'; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death." - 2 Timothy 2:13, "If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself." - Philippians 2:13, "For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure."
Personal Notes:
I love this recipe, because I know that I have a sweet tooth. I crave foods that aren't good for my stomach. When it comes to sweets, enough is never enough. I often eat so much I get sick to my stomach.
Instructions:
First, take 13-15 from James 1. Your desires and lusts for the "sweets" of this world not only rot your teeth, but rot your soul. That's why this ingredient is important. God is not to blame for your sinful indulgences.
Second, take 2:13 from 2 Timothy. This ingredient can stand alone.
Finally, finish by taking 2:13 from Philippians. Out of love for Jesus, you'll want to eat healthy. In view of Christ's work of salvation, these ingredients and instructions from your Father, you can taste and see that "Sweet tooth destruction" is a recipe of responsibility and forgiveness to be truly thankful for, for the rest of your life! Dessert? Isaiah 55:1-3.
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name,
Your Kingdom come,
Your will be done on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are Yours now and forever.
Amen.
