"Music has given me a way of expressing my feelings and my thoughts, and it has also given me a way of understanding more about life. For example, as you play together in a symphony orchestra, you can appreciate that each musician has something fine to offer. Each one is different, though, and you each have a different "song to sing".

THE RANGER REPORT - January 3, 2019 The Official Newsletter of The Mighty Manatees Medicine Show "Celebrating 33 years of trying to play well with others."

MANATEES LOVE! - During the holidays, our Mighty Manatees bassist/ keyboardist/ vocalist/ sound man/ recording engineer/ (and the guy who mails out all these Ranger Reports) Karl "K-Jo" Frick and his lady Marlena got engaged! All of us here at Mighty Manatees Headquarters want to wish these two love birds much happiness and joy. What a sweet way to start off 2019!

RETURN TO LANDHAVEN! - It's true! On Saturday, January 19, Ranger Will & The Gifted Hicks will play a special encore performance at the fabled Landhaven Bed & Breakfast in Barto, PA. If you have never been to Landhaven before, you really owe it to yourself to check it out. It is a old general store that has been converted into a warm, country coffeehouse which is lovingly operated by Ed & Donna. This place exhumes rustic charm. It will be a night of original acoustic music, stories and jokes. Showtime is 8:00 PM. Landhaven Bed & Breakfast, Barto, PA BYOB Special thanks to Ann. https://www.landhavenbandb.com/

MIGHTY MANATEES AT SELLERSVILLE THEATER! - We love to play The Sellersville Theater. They have a nice big stage, good lights & sound, a smart crew, and they let us have a dance section in front of the stage. We will perform there on Thursday, January 31. This year we will have the mighty Mike Guldin and Rollin' & Tumblin' opening up the show! Keyboardists Karl Frick and Tim Hooper will be playing in both bands! At the end of the show, both bands will converge for an all-star jam session. Special guests! Showtime is 8:00 PM. Sellersville Theater Special thanks to Bruce. Here is the poster for the event. It is the work of artist Tom Mussleman who also to plays percussion with The Mighty Manatees and The Gifted Hicks. http://www.st94.com/

MIGHTY MANATEES YOUTUBE CLIP OF THE MONTH - We thought we would start this brand new year off with a brand new feature. Each month we will post a different video clip from our extensive collection. This month's clip is one of my favorites. It was shot in black and white while we played outside on Market Street in Philadelphia a few years ago. We are playing the Bob Marley song, "Could You Be Loved". It's a quartet and what makes it notable is the explosive saxophone solo by the great Walter Tates Jr.. Randy Wagner and Jim Cavanaugh aka "The Sexual Rhythm Posse" provide a solid groove on bass and drums. Special thanks to Natty Photo. https://youtu.be/qPgqYNRoioo

CORRECTION - At the beginning of last month's Ranger Report there was a quote that was wrongly attributed to Michael Curry. The real author of the quote was Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. We regret any confusion. Special thanks to Wyatt.

Special thanks,
Ranger Will
