Hello Firstname

Wednesday 11 October
Next Wednesday our speaker will be Rohan Reilly from Cork, who will be presenting his talk called The Delicate Art of Monochrome, which is an insight into his work, focusing on the use of weather, sense of composition, selection of subject matter and the steps in processing the images for print.

You can read more about Rohan and view his galleries by visiting his website at www.rohanreilly.com

DI Group
The monthly meeting of the DI Group will be held next Monday. Your leader, Ashwin, will be away sunning himself in India, however he has left the evening in the capable hands of Mike Bigger and Lee Spencer Fleet. The evening will take the usual format of informal discussion and presentation of pictures brought in by you, the audience!
Images can be either prints or jpegs (on USB memory sticks only, please) and can be just to show off what you have been doing lately or to show for discussion because you have a problem or process you would like help on.
There's no need to worry about the biscuits just because Ashwin is away, he's entrusted the combination to the "biscuit safe" to Mike and Lee

Print Group
Monday week, 16 October, is the next meeting of the Print Group. This group is open to members who are producing prints and are either already on the road towards photographic distinctions or who are thinking about joining that road, or just want to improve their printing. This is an informal group led by Pete McCloskey and Graham Reeves who will be able to offer advice and assistance to help you reach those targets.

Did You Receive Your Newsletter
We have, for sometime, experienced problems with sending the newsletter to some email addresses, notably those provided by BT. The address from which the newsletter is sent has now been changed in an attempt to get around BT's vicious spam-traps, so if you haven't been receiving your newsletters, but miraculously started to receive it last week, could you please let me know. This iwill gve me some idea as to whether the switch of sending address has worked - bpsnewsletter@bristolphoto.org.uk

Studio Bookings
Would all members please note: before you plan your shoot and book your model, you should check whether the studio/clubroom will be free. This can be done easily and at any time by viewing the Clubroom Bookings calendar in the Members' Area of the BPS Website. Bookings can (and must) be made by contacting Mike Bigger at bookings@bristolphoto.org.uk.
Log in details to the Members' Area are at the end of this newsletter.

Competitions To Enter
The PAGB Masters of Print Competition is held each October, followed by a public Exhibition. Individual Photographers who are members of affiliated Clubs may enter directly, without any pre-qualification. There is a large number of big prizes to be won, so if you do prints, now is your chance for glory! For full entry details and a list of the magnificent prizes on offer, please follow this link.
If you would like to enter, but are concerned about the logistics or cost of sending your prints, Mike Hall and John Chamberlin are going to the PAGB Interclub Print Competition at Blackburn on 29 October and they have said that they are happy to take your entry with them.

International Landscape Photographer of the Year - entries are invited for this competition, the closing date is 19 November. Full entry details can be found here.

Trumpet Blowers' Corner
Salon acceptances: BPS photographers are now achieving large numbers of salon acceptances and constraints on time and space mean we can't include them all. So please only advise of awards or other milestones.

Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.

Items For Sale
If you have something photographic that you want to sell, let me have the details and I will circulate them to a captive audience of photographers through the Newsletter - send to the usual address.

Photographic Acronyms
For those of you who aren't sure what MPAGB, EFIAP/s and many more such seemingly random collections of letters mean, just click here to download the list.

Personal Detail Changes
Please don't forget that if you change your address (home or email), or gain additional photographic distinctions, it would be appreciated if you could let the Membership Secretary know so that she can keep her records up to date, this will also ensure that you continue to receive your newsletters - please email all changes to membership@bristolphoto.org.uk
The distinctions we have on record are those shown at the top of this newsletter, if they are wrong, please let Carol know.
