The South African speaking tour of Pedro Ferraracio Charbel has kicked off! Charbel, who is from Brazil, is in the country as part of the 13th #IsraeliApartheidWeek (IAW). This year's IAW campaign was launched yesterday at an event with former South African President Kgalema Motlanthe (click here).
 

Charbel will be in Pietermartizburg (6 March), Durban (6/3), Port Elizabeth (7 March), Grahamstown (7 March), King Williams Town/East London (8 March), Wits University Rally (9 March), Potchefstroom (9 March), Hartbeespoort (10 March), Pretoria (10 March), Lenasia (11 March), Cape Town (13 March) and Johannesburg (17 March). Click here or see below for his full schedule.

 

Pedro Charbel is the BDS Coordinator for Latin America. He forms part of the BDS National Committee (BNC) based in Ramallah which is the head office of the international BDS movement. The BNC is the largest Palestinian civil society and political coalition that leads the BDS movement and has sometimes been compared to the 1980s United Democratic Front. Charbel has been involved in various campaigns and struggles for justice, equality and freedom in Brazil and around the world. He holds a degree in International Relations from the University of São Paulo (USP) and was one of the founder-members of the Palestinian Front of USP and of the Educational Network for Human Rights in Palestine/Israel (FFIPP-Brazil). He has previously served in the World Council of Churches Ecumenical Accompaniment Program in Palestine/Israel (EAPPI) and has presented at several meetings of the United Nations on the issue of Palestine and Israel. Charbel was previously based at the São Paulo Municipality’s International Relations Secretariat.
