Wednesday 16 November

Next week's speaker is Linda Wevill FRPS who will be presenting her talk called My Creative Vision.

Linda is a creative photographer and her aim is to achieve a soft painterly effect in her work and to capture the essence of a place.

Linda is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society and serves on the RPS Assessment Panels. She has gained two Fellowships, the first in May 2013 and the second in June 2022, both in the Visual Art Photography category.
Linda has gained the EFIAP Bronze distinction. She has exhibited widely and had work published in numerous books and magazines. Her first book ‘Creative Photography’ was published in 2019.

In her presentation Linda will be going through her recently gained second Fellowship. She will have her prints on show as she feels it is always important to see the printed version of the images. She will then go on to show a couple of her on-going projects, ‘My France’ and ‘Impressions of London: all showing her creative vision and her particular way of working.

DI Group
Digital Group ( Zoom ) Meeting – Monday 14 November, 7.30 pm

All members are welcome to the November meeting next Monday. Last month we had a brilliant presentation by one of our own members Sue O’Connell, an avid travel photographer whose journeys have taken her to the far corners of the world. What we saw was only a small selection of the vast collection of images that Sue has amassed and included images from Mongolia, India, Middle East and Ethiopia plus a variety of other genres: portraits, architecture and nature among them. With such a range of images it was well worth devoting the whole evening to her work but the next Monday it is back to members sending their images for us all to see what they have been working on either to show off or ask for comments on whatever help they may need. If you just want to come and watch, you are most  welcome too.

Mursi Woman with AK 47 - Sue O'Connell

I should remind everyone, especially newer members, that DI meetings are informal and you do not need to send images to attend but these meetings are an ideal place to ask questions or invite comments on your images from others present.

Please send your images (1 to 20 approx) to reach me by 6pm-ish Sunday (13 November). Images: JPG format, sRGB colour space, 1600 x 1200 pixels (same as competitions but not strict). If you wish to show them in a specific order, please prefix filenames with 01, 02, 03 etc. Email attachment size - max 20Mb per email, as many as necessary. You may also use WeTransfer or Dropbox if convenient, but I am not equipped to receive images by direct transfers from Google or Apple Mac systems.

Possible Workshop
The following is from Slawek Staszczuk, who was the speaker at BPS last week:

Someone from the audience mentioned, probably in the break, that they might be interested in joining a workshop in Portsmouth if I planned another one, as it's not a million miles away. I do have a special flat rate for "exclusive" workshops for organised groups. That's £300 regardless of the number; so, the more people join, the lower the cost per head. Obviously, at a certain threshold the session becomes more of a photo walk than a workshop, as I can no longer give everyone enough individual attention. Perhaps this could be of interest to your members?

Regards,
