John 1:3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
"BY WHOM ALL THINGS WERE MADE"
How often do we think of Jesus Christ as being involved in the creation of the world? He was. Just as much as the Father and the Spirit. We say this each time we confess the Nicene Creed, though I wonder if everyone realizes this. The original (Greek) version and the punctuation of the English make it clear that the words "by whom all things were made" refer not to the Father but to the Son.
More importantly, the creed is solidly based on God's Word. The Bible clearly teach that the pre-incarnate Christ was there in the beginning (John 1:3, Colossians 1:15-17). He was and is God. Without Jesus there is no creation, no world, no universe, no life.
The power of Jesus is the almighty power of the Creator of all things. No wonder He could change water into wine in the blink of an eye and feed thousands with a few fish and a sack of barley biscuits. No wonder when He told wind and wave to "Be still!" it did. It is His power that still holds us and keeps us safe in life's storms.
Your Savior, the One who came to rescue you from the jaws of eternal hell, the One who claims you as His own, who paid your ransom to God -- the price for your admission into the heavenly realms, your Savior is also your Creator.
He has been personally interested in you from your earliest beginning, interested in preserving and saving what He has made. He is plainly powerful enough to guide, protect, and keep you forever and ever.
But will we stick with Him? We who are by nature sinful. We who are so easily mislead, with minds beclouded, hearts naturally dark. Won't we surely, stupidly stray away from Him? Not when we depend on Him, on our Creator, Savior, and Redeemer who has forgiven our sins, given us eternal truth and renewed us in heart and mind.
In Him is gladness -- and eternal safety.
