Join me in Belize!

Hi Friends,
It is another month of The Farm in the media, with the CNN production airing throughout the month of December. See the schedule below.

A new documentary called "American Commune" hits the film festival circuit this coming spring. Produced by two sisters who grew up on The Farm, word about the film has hit the mainstream media, providing more exposure to The Farm's message.

I have had several serious inquiries about the Belize Adventure and am hopeful we will be able to pull it off. I urge you to consider adding this to your plans for the New Year.

Assuming we make it past the end of the year! This winter's solstice corresponds with the end of the Mayan calendar as well as other sources predicting cataclysmic change. This December, as we bask in 70 degree temperatures, it is clear a new direction is needed if we are to prepare for the impact of climate change.

Wishing you and yours a glorious holiday season and a festive New Year!.

Yours in community,

Douglas

The Farm is profiled on HLN's "American Journey" and "Making It In America"

I apologize for the late notice, but I just received word on the broadcast schedule for the programs about The Farm on CNN HLN or Headline News.

The first piece about Jason and Alayne Deptula aired Wednesday, December 5th, at 4pm EST on "Making It In America." After the segment, they went to commercial and then came back to a live interview with Katrina, one of our newest residents.

Additional pieces will air at the same time on Wednesdays in December. Other people profiled on the show will also appear in live interviews throughout the month.

The full special will air Saturday, December 8 and Sunday the 9th at 8pm EST on HLN.

Several articles online will also be published on the HLN web site throughout the month, such as this one with a photo gallery promoting the show.

The show is called "American Journey," The theme is to illustrate how people survive and even thrive in the new economy. The Farm presents an alternative way of life that has many advantages (a bank cannot take an individual's home), provides the safety and security absent from suburban life, and allows people to live comfortably on lower incomes.

"American Commune" - A new documentary prompts articles on ABC News and The Daily Mail in the UK

mundo sisters
Nadine Mundo and Rena Mundo Croshere tell their story of growing up on The Farm and the difficulty of leaving during The Chamgeover in their documentary "American Commune."

It has been year's in the making, but their project of love and dedication is about to bear fruit. Nadine and Rena Mundo were both born on The Farm in the early 1970's. However their idyllic life as children of the flower children got a rude awakening when their family left The Farm after The Changeover, when The Farm's radical economic restructuring prompted hundreds to seek new lives elsewhere.

American Commune is their story and the story of many other Farm youth who were thrust into mainstream society after the great change, what for many was a difficult transition. The film is in the final stages of editing, thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign which helped the Mundo sisters raise the necessary funds to complete their work. Kickstarter.com is a web site set up to help artists and filmmakers get the funding they need to fulfill a specific project. With the help of family, friends and others intrigued by the nature of the subject, the two raised over $50,000!

The momentum of their campaign and the publicity it generated caught the attention of media outlets like ABC News. This in turn caught the eye of The Daily Mail in the UK, once again thrusting The Farm Community into the spotlight.

Belize Adventure
Over the next couple of weeks I will be contacting the folks who have expressed interest in the Belize Adventure and it is not too late for you to be included. The maximum number I will be accepting fro the trip is 7.

This will be more than just a vacation.
It will be a way to to go beyond typical ecotourism.
It's a chance to see how the rest of the world really lives and briefly share their lives.

We'll see cutting edge solar technology and back to the basics sustainable gardening ....ancient ruins and traditional peoples ...howler monkeys and the Caribbean Sea.

It will be a trip you will never forget.

I look forward to hearing from you.
