Europa Nostra, as the leading heritage organisation in Europe, contributes to the formulation and implementation of European policies and strategies related to heritage, runs campaigns to save threatened heritage sites through the 7 Most Endangered programme, and celebrates excellence through the EU Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards.
On 31 March Europa Nostra received the confirmation that its four-year project proposal "Sharing Heritage-Sharing Values" will be supported within the framework of the "Creative Europe" programme from 2017 until 2021.

Europa Nostra Industrial and Engineering Heritage Committee held its 17th meeting in Newcastle. It plans to produce a book on the European character of industrial heritage sites in different countries, linked to the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018. Study visits in Newcastle included the former Art Deco Palace of Arts, disused and dilapidated since 2006, and recently transformed as a state-of-the-art brewery.

The second edition of the international conference on “Smart and Sustainable Planning for Cities and Regions” has taken place in Bolzano (Italy) on March 22-24, 2017.

SSPCR 2017 welcomed more than hundred contributions representing different research fields: urban and regional planning, transportation, environmental and social sciences and energy-related studies. See book of abstracts.

The FFUE has been invited to provide the keynote speech (read abstract). It refers to the book "Sustainable cities. Assessing the Performance and Practice of Urban Environments" (eds. Pierre Laconte & Chris Gossop, I.B. Tauris, London-New York, 2016).

A selection of papers will be published by Springer International Publishing later in 2017.
