Next week we welcome Rene de Heer to BPS. Rene has been a nature photographer for 30 years. His main interest is bird photography but given the chance he will also try his luck with mammals and landscapes.
His photography has taken him all over the world; the USA, Canada, India and Namibia, to name a few of the countries he has visited. Hungary, Spain and Scandinavia are among his most favorite places.
|
|
Rene was the founder of one of the first Dutch Nature Photography Societies, which is still going strong today.
In 1998 Rene moved from the Netherlands to the UK, where he has worked as a Sales Director for Thomson-Reuters. Rene is married to Frances and they have 2 children .
Rene’s work has been widely published in magazines and calendars and he has participated in several successful exhibitions and won a number of competitions

DI Group Meeting - Advance Notice for 13 March, 7.30 pm
The next DI Group meeting is on Monday 13 March, in just ten day’s time. The meeting is open to all BPS members. This is a gentle reminder to all members who would like to show their images to set them aside for presentation at the meeting. If you have been working on a project of your own, preparing for competitions or other salons you may want to get a second opinion at the DI meeting from your fellow members or just show off your work.
When you are ready, please email your files to reach me no later than 6pm Sunday 12 March. Images: JPG format, sRGB colour space, 1600 x 1200 pixels (same as competitions but not strict). If you wish to show them in a specific order, please prefix filenames with 01, 02, 03 etc. Email attachment size - max 20Mb per email, as many as necessary. You may also use WeTransfer or Dropbox if convenient, but I am not equipped to receive by direct transfers from Google or Apple Mac systems.

Over the last two meetings we have experienced some problems with Zoom. This can be put down to the fact that we have recently installed a new computer system, which has meant setting up the whole Zoom system from scratch again. Unfortunately, despite prior testing which showed no problems, we have had a couple of teething problems - these are now hopefully sorted and behind us.
The setup required to provide the hybrid meetings is quite complex and Matt de-Beger should be thanked for all the work and effort he has put in over the months to ensure the smooth running of meetings for both those in the clubrooms and those choosing to watch from home. So if there are a few problems, please be patient, Matt is working his little socks off to try to make your Wednesday evenings run smoothly and enjoyably. |

Thanks to BPS member, Sian Jones for this:
It’s a long way off, but if people are planning holidays for the year ahead they may want to add the Amsterdam Light Festival, from November 30 - January 21. Click on image for more details.

Salon acceptances: Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.
|
If you have any photographic items for sale, drop me a line and I'll include it in the next newsletter. Please make sure that you provide contact details, price and full description of the sale items (pictures always help). |
IMPORTANT: Personal Detail Changes |
Please don't forget that if you change your address (home or email), or gain additional photographic distinctions, it would be appreciated if you could let the Membership Secretary know so that she can keep her records up to date, this will also ensure that you continue to receive your newsletters - please email all changes to membership@bristolphoto.org.uk.
The distinctions we have on record are those shown at the top of this newsletter, please remember, if you don't tell us we can't possibly know!
DO NOT REPLY TO THE NEWSLETTER.
