Hello Firstname

Wednesday 9 October
The speaker next Wednesday is Paul Keene FRPS who will be presenting his talk entitled 'From here to Eternity'

Paul will be showing a collection of audio visuals starting with subjects that will be familiar to the audience, then moving to far away places like Australia and Tibet, and ending with a creative sequence that crosses the universe!

Paul has been a member of the RPS since 1975 and a Fellow for over 20 years. He has also been a regular exhibitor in international exhibitions for many years and in 2003 he became one of the first people in Britain to hold both the MPAGB and the EFIAP/platinum distinctions. Paul is a PAGB listed judge and has judged many regional, national, and international exhibitions. He has also been fortunate to belong to (as he describes them) two of the best photographic societies in the country - Smethwick and Amersham.

Hang Out The Bunting For Mark!
Sorry about the heading, but couldn't resist the pun!

'Reed Bunting' by Mark Stinchcombe ARPS

The print of this image recently gained Mark a Northern Counties Ribbon (Highly Commended) in the Northern Counties International Salon. This print, along with 3 others, also gained acceptances in the recent Scottish International Salon

Beyond The Wall
I have received the following from Judith Richley, who has recently taken over the running of the Beyond The Wall group:

Beyond the Wall has organised a trip into deepest darkest Gloucestershire, well Westbury-on-Severn and Littledean actually, for the last Sunday in October - 27th and we would like to open this up to all BPS members.

It's a full day - starting with Westbury Court Garden (£5) to take some pictures of the water feature and formal garden http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/westbury-court-garden/, then a spot of lunch in a nearby pub followed by a look round Littledean Jail (£8) http://www.littledeanjail.com/. I’ve only seen in the first room of the jail and it's wall to wall with memorabilia.  Good stock for Photoshop creativity.  I have checked with the Jail and they are happy for people to take photographs.

Both these venues close at the end of October – so it's our last chance to see them this year.  Also, with any luck, at the end of October the trees will still have their beautiful autumn colours creating more opportunities for some photos.

So to recap with some timings:-
  • 10am: Meet at Westbury Court Garden
  • 12ish: Lunch either in the local pub or in Cinderford
  • 2 - 2.15pm: Trip round Littledean Jail
If you'd like to join us for either all or part of the day just drop me an email at richleyj@googlemail.com.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Judith

£8000 Up for Grabs
We have received the following from Bristol Guildhall Arts Centre:

With £8,000 worth of prizes, "24 Hours in Bristol" is a unique photographic competition designed to capture the life of the city in a single day. In conjunction with The Royal Photographic Society, Amateur Photographer Magazine, The Prince's Trust, The London Camera Exchange and Destination Bristol, the competition invites amateur and professional photographers from across the UK to visit Bristol.

Photographers will have a 24 hour period from midnight on Friday 18th October to midnight Saturday 19th to scour the vibrant West Country city of Bristol in search of winning photo opportunities.

On entering the competition, photographers are randomly allocated a one-hour time slot during which they must take at least one photograph, although they can enter up to five additional images taken at any time on 19th October, resulting in a fascinating hour by hour time line of Bristol at work, rest and play.

One lucky photographer will also secure a two year contract documenting the transformation of the Bristol Guildhall into a five star hotel; this is a great opportunity for any eager photographer local to Bristol which includes anyone from your club.

For further information please feel free to contact me.
To enter the competition and for more details please go to www.24hoursinbristol.co.uk
I have some marketing material I could email to you that you could forward to your members.

Many thanks

Kind Regards
