  On “Earth Day.”

How the First Earth Day Came About
By Senator Gaylord Nelson, Founder of Earth Day

Do you know the purpose of Earth Day? How and when it first started?

Actually, the idea for Earth Day evolved over a period of seven years starting in 1962.

(The final note)
Earth Day worked because of the spontaneous response at the grassroots level. We had neither the time nor resources to organize 20 million demonstrators and the thousands of schools and local communities that participated. That was the remarkable thing about Earth Day. It organized itself.

I’m sure you know the impact trees have on our every day lives-from absorbing toxins in the air to buffering all the noise that is constantly around us. Without trees, life would be unbearable.

Meet Alana Lea…someone who knows trees up-close and personal.

Alana is also the founder of the Rainforest EcoBank. www.facebook.com/#!/RainforestEcoBank

I have enjoyed getting to know bit about this woman, and her passion for this project just fuels my own passion for my most loved projects.

Do you Know…keeping healthy plants in your home will benefit your health.

Ferns, English Ivy, and Peace Lilies-will absorb all the toxins in an average home within 24 hours…..to accomplish this you need on average 1 large or 2 small plants in each room…..pretty and healthy-what’s not to love ~

Woo-Hoo! It is fresh vegetable time all around the country! My taste buds are working over-time already.

If you need help finding organic or locally grown, sustainable farms in your area - try www.localgarvest.org. A wonderful site for many farms and value added products all across the USA

Soon it will be Pesto time, and it is for so much more than pasta.

Make your basic pesto and add a little lemon juice and drizzle over fish…so, so good.

Toss with wild rice or toss with roasted potatoes….experiment, the options are endless, and all so yummy.

My friend Daniela Kunz has something that is much needed by many. If you live in or around Franklin, Nashville, Brentwood, check it out. Daniela is very knowledgeable and active in better health ‘ naturally.’ www.facebook.com/#!/events/310200282382551

We still have lettuce and spring onions if anyone is interested.
Some Romaine and lots of mixed-loose leaf. Young and tender.

I would like to share a very worthy and important cause with each of you.
If you are reading this newsletter, no doubt you know who and what Monsanto is.

This is a dedicated and hard driven group that has started the fight against this dark horse that has infected our food supply and our farmlands.

Please visit these links and find a way to offer your support.

We all know that legal work is not cheap-please give whatever you can…nothing is too small-it adds up.

This fight is for all of us…even if you don’t buy and eat organic…this threat filters into all the farmlands and all the food sources. It is a fight that must be shared by us all.

Thank you so very much.
