Matthew 11:28-30 "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
LOOK AT YOUR SAVIOR'S HANDS -- HANDS THAT INVITE!
Do you know how it feels to not get picked first, or maybe even not at all? Have you ever had that wedding or party that you expected to go to, but the invitation never came in the mail? Not being chosen or invited can be a disappointing and a painful reminder that we aren't the center of everyone else's life. However, that's not what we see with Jesus.
When Jesus was teaching His disciples, as we see in the gospel of Matthew, He spoke of the many surrounding cities that had rejected His preaching and invitation to follow Him. Many of His own disciples, just like you and me today, can doubt His message, His promises, or His power. But the Son of God, Jesus Christ, continues to extend an invitation of grace and mercy to us all to "Come" to Him for rest and peace for the soul.
As you learn from Jesus today, be comforted to know that you are the center of His life! Just look at your Savior's hands. You see His hands extended for you on the cross. You see Jesus' hands that were nailed in place in order to seal your invitation to His eternal rest. You see your Savior's hands that still come to you through His Word, to invite you to enjoy the burden and guilt-lifting forgiveness that He alone provides. And you know with a believer's confidence that Jesus Himself has written with His own hand your name in the Book of Life!
