The Singles - Season 3 starts 4/17
For those of you who are just joining us, here's a little background about The Singles - Season 3: Starting in 2008, we decided to try a little experiment. The idea was to release a CD's worth of songs one at a time over a few months, sort of like a TV series. At the end of the "season," you could get a collector's edition with all the tracks, liner notes, artwork, and extraneous whatnots.

Well, it worked....at least you guys have told us as much! And we know we're not supposed to believe the hype, but so far the press has agreed: Skope Magazine gushed about The SIngles - Season 1:  "It’s unlike anything I’ve ever heard before.... The band is incredibly talented, which is especially evident in reading the album booklet and the explanations behind all of the songs.... If you want to spend an hour in an entirely different dimension, Kicksville is for you." The Singles - Season 2 got Brian Baker (Blurt Magazine, Cincinnati City Beat) so hot, he wrote, "...any sounds that can be attributed to Kicksville are among the most fascinatingly original that are being foisted upon an unsuspecting world."

Which brings us to The Singles - Season 3.... We're kicking off the next 10 weekly episodes of schizo-phonic weirdness on National Record Store Day, April 17. From the atmospheric silliness of Hot Alien Orgy to the Black-Flag-meets-Bukowski-on-a-binge edginess of Luna, Season 3 is going to stand out as some of our best stuff yet. And following in the footsteps of Andy Ewen and Tone Deaf, the artwork for Season 3 is provided by the renowned Russian illustrator, Skinny Gaviar. спасибо, Skinny!

St. Patty's Day craziness at the Kinetic Playground!
Next up: Martyr's Live 6/4/2010
Thanks to all of you who braved the St. Patty's Day weekend insanity to come see us at the Kinetic Playground a few weeks ago! The Zombie Army was out in force (thanks, Kitty!), and we were lucky enough to have had an amazing opening act: Citizens Biff Blumfumgagnge and Geoff Brady improvised a soundtrack to the classic film, Nosferatu. Biff broke out his alien electric mandolin technology, a theremin, and a violin, while Geoff whacked away on his aqua harp and a pile of percussion. If you haven't see them do this, you're missing out....friggin' incredible, if we may be so bold. The Kicksville portion of the night was a blast - we can't really put into words how much fun we have once the 10,000 pieces are assembled and we can just play. Really. We might have this really cool multimedia show with all sorts of bells and whistles, but after everything's said and done, it's all about the music. After all, it wouldn't matter how much flashy lighting and wacky video we had if the songs sucked and we hated playing with each other!

Got Art?
Got any extraneous bits of weird shite knocking around your house?
Doll parts?
Broken CDs?
Old drum heads or guitar strings?
Toys your kids won't play with anymore?

Bring it all to the gig and give it to Tone Deaf - he'll make it into art during the show! Really.... You'd be amazed (and possibly horrified) what Tone is able to use in his artwork. So bring it on, and turn the useless into, well, something else useless but much cooler ;-)

More to come....
