Next Wednesday, 5 May, we will be welcoming Emma Delves-Broughton FRPS, who will be presenting her talk entitled Deadly - Photographs by Emma Delves-Broughton Photography
Deadly is a personal project by photographer Emma Delves-Broughton. The models are styled as mythological creatures and goddesses who have an 'other worldly' quality - beautiful but deadly…Emma gained a Fellowship with the Royal Photographic Society in 2018 for her ‘Deadly’ images. Lots of planning went into each look prior to pressing the shutter.
Emma has not only taken the photographs, she also styled the models and their surroundings, or found suitable locations for outdoor shoots, planned and applied the make-up, built wigs and hairpieces, and made many of the props, including some of the clothing. Emma’s photographs have been published since the nineties and have appeared in many magazines, within a range of glossy coffee table books and on the numerous book covers. Collectors buy Emma’s work to hang on their walls. Emma's website is worth a look to give a taste of what is to come. www.emmadelvesbroughton
BPS member, Gerry Gill, has been out and about with his camera (how many of you remember what they are?) and captured this seasonal shot.
Not The Print Competition
Last week the results of the Not The Print Competition, which was judged by Pete McCloskey FRPSwere published. Unfortunately there was a communication hitch twixt judge and Competition Secretary which resulted in an HC for Ann Mead being omitted from the list. Ann's image Rose Chaffer Eating Thistle should have been credited with an HC in the Advanced section. The updated League Table is reproduced below:
Salon acceptances:BPS photographers are now achieving large numbers of salon acceptances and constraints on time and space mean we can't include them all. So please only advise of awards or other milestones.
Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.
Make Money For BPS Every Time You Shop On Amazon!
Now we're all still in lockdown, the thought of on-line shopping must be looming large in many members' minds. It's worth remembering that if you so wish, each and every one of you can support BPS with every purchase you make on Amazon by using Amazon Smile. Click on the link below – then it’s self-explanatory.
Shopping using Smile is no different to your normal Amazon shopping and costs you nothing, it's just that you need to tell it that you wish to use Smile and then we get some pennies!
For Sale
If you have any photographic items for sale, drop me a line and I'll include it in the next newsletter. Please make sure that you provide contact details, price and full description of the sale items (pictures always help).
Photographic Acronyms
For those of you who aren't sure what MPAGB, EFIAP/s and many more such seemingly random collections of letters mean, just click hereto see the list.
