Psalm 100:3 (NIV84) Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
It Is He Who Made Us
One analogy used as an argument for the existence of a creator is that of a divine watchmaker: the apparent design of the universe around us implies a creator, therefore God exists.

Our verse invites us to “know that the LORD is God.” We are not simply to know that there is some sort of all powerful designer somewhere out there; we instead get to know Him by name, the covenant name Jehovah, and not only that, we get to know who He is and what He does.

The LORD is our Father and Creator. He is the one who made us and preserves us. The LORD is our Shepherd, who leads us and ultimately made the ultimate sacrifice for us. The Lord is the Giver of life who brought us to faith, by which faith we now belong to Him.

Without knowing the true God, we would still be lost. Instead, God has revealed Himself to us in His Word and through that Word in baptism has brought us to faith that we might be members of His flock. Let us give thanks to the Lord for all He has done and continues to do for us.

Not we, but the Lord is our Maker, our God;
Glory be to God!
His people we are and the sheep led by His rod;
Sing praise unto God out of Zion!
(The Lutheran Hymnal, 44:2)
