Hebrews 7:23-24 The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office, but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever.
OUR GREAT HIGH PRIEST (1)
No matter how chaotic your life may seem, you can have confidence that God remains steady and sure. One of the blessings of having Christ as your High Priest is that He is consistent. His power and control over your life will never waver.
This resoluteness of our Savior was an integral part of His death on the cross. It was not easy to walk the lonely path to Calvary. Jesus knew exactly what lay before Him. He knew so well, that He even asked His Father if there might possibly be another way. But there was only one way, and Jesus fulfilled it for you and me.
Later in the book of Hebrews, the writer reminds us of the same truth in a very familiar passage: "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever" (Hebrews 13:8). Even Isaiah prophesied of the Messiah's consistency when he wrote: "The Lord GOD helps me; therefore I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame" (Isaiah 50:7).
The ups and downs of life make things difficult for us and make it hard to stay focused on the truth. But seeing the great blessing we have through our High Priest, Jesus, and how He kept to the path throughout His suffering and death, gives us true hope and joy.
