Hello Firstname

Wednesday 5 October
Next Wednesday, 28 September, we have a visit from Lyndsay Robertson with his talk From Landscapes to Endangered. The talk encompasses a life long career in Photography - from advertising photography to years later having the unique opportunity, from the Eastman House, of organising and staging a joint exhibition in the UK, alongside the works of Ansel Adams; thereby creating the largest ever Ansel Adams exhibition outside the USA.
Lyndsay has more recently been creating studio portraits of horses and endangered animals utilising a 3,000 sq. ft. portable studio set. What next!?
You can see some of Lyndsay's work by visiting his website here.

Print Comprtition - Round 1
A bit of advanced warning, the judge for Round 1, Roger Parry, has had to drop out , however our own Pete McCloskey has kindly agreed to step into the breach.

New Members
A warm welcome to the following who have joined BPS during the last month:
  • Harry Bowden
  • Jason Eastham
  • Daniel Mills
We hope that your stay will be both long and enjoyable.

Mobile Phones
Would members please make sure that they switch their mobile phones to SILENT during meetings (or even better, switch it OFF). If you must leave your phone on, please desist from using it during meetings. Quite a few members have taken to either checking their phones or sending texts during meetings which intensley annoying to anyone sat near them, especially during projected image evenings when the room is dark. There is nothing worse that trying to look at the projection screen and being acutley aware of the bright light of a phone screen nearby. Surely you can live without your phone for the duration of a meeting!

Trumpet Blowers' Corner
BPS Secretary, John Hudson has gained his ARPS this week, well done John, you're now a member of a very small and exclusive group of members. Hopefully this isn't the end of your climb up the distinctions ladder and that we'll be having a John Hudson Fellowship special soon.

Here are a couple of images from John's panel:

The RPS International AV Exhibition was held last weekend and Greg Duncan received a FIAP Ribbon for his AV entitled "Why I gave up Slide Shows". The judging was divided into seven sessions and his AV also received the audience award for the final session. Not to be outdone, Val (Duncan) has just received her FBPE.
Salon acceptances: BPS photographers are now achieving large numbers of salon acceptances and constraints on time and space mean we can't include them all. So please only advise of awards or other milestones.

Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.
