A New Breed of Literary Event
Portland Story Theater's Urban Tellers: Unexpected Journeys

Urban Tellers is back and rumbling at full speed. It's the first show of the season, so get your tickets and get ready to go on an Unexpected Journey, where you'll be going places you never thought you'd go -- at least not in public.

All around the country we've all seen that there's a new breed of literary event cropping up and Portland is no exception. Portland Story Theater has been leading the way to create a unique fusion of wit and bare-bone emotion expressed on stage. These performances bring urban culture to life but they are a world away from the strait-laced book reading. The space is intimate, relaxed and invites the interactive ethos of an evening at an open mic. It's a new breed of literary event.

On September 9th the latest group of Urban Tellers will perform at Hipbone Studio sharing some of their Unexpected Journeys. Who knew that wearing shorts could lead to jail time; that  walking across The Golden Gate Bridge could completely change your life, or that the taking of a life could be a mystical experience. Make your reservations sooner rather than later -- these events usually fill up quickly and reservations guarantee you a seat.

About Portland Story Theater. Portlanders are passionate about stories. And live theater, and shared experiences. Portland Story Theater shares this passion. We use a unique collaborative approach to create shows where people perform stories drawn from real-life experiences. Portland Story Theater offers a workshop series, The Art of Personal Narrative, that gives people an opportunity to discover and craft their stories so that they flow through them, seamlessly in their true form, without any barriers: open, fresh, revealing. The workshop culminates in a showcase called Urban Tellers. It's not acting. It's not writing. There's no script. This is narrative, spoken straight from the heart. Real. True. Stories.
