Loaded: A Disarming History of the Second Amendment ROXANNE DUNBAR-ORTIZ
Loaded: A Disarming History of the Second Amendment
Thursday, May 3 at 7 PM

"Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz's Loaded is like a blast of fresh air. She is no fan of guns or of our absurdly permissive laws surrounding them. But she does not merely take the liberal side of the familiar debate." - Adam Hochschild, The New York Review of Books

Join us for a lively and timely discussion with historian and educator Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz, who has written a deeply researched - and deeply disturbing - history of guns and gun laws in the United States, from the original colonization of the country to the present. She explains that, in order to understand the current obstacles to gun control, we must understand the history of U.S. guns, from their role in the "settling of America" and the early formation of the new nation, and continuing up to the present.

"Dave Itzkoff allows readers a rare intimate look at Robin Williams in this honest and emotional biography of the late entertainer...a fresh look at a man loved by many but truly understood by few."- Time

Meet this New York Times culture reporter, who has written the definitive biography of Robin Williams - a compelling portrait of one of America's most beloved and misunderstood entertainers.

From his rapid-fire stand-up comedy riffs to his breakout role in Mork & Mindy and his Academy Award-winning performance in Good Will Hunting, Robin Williams was a singularly innovative and beloved entertainer. Itzkoff reveals how Williams' comic brilliance masked a deep well of conflicting emotions and self-doubt, which he drew upon in his comedy and in celebrated films like Dead Poets Society, Good Morning, Vietnam, and The Fisher King.
