Tomorrow (Tuesday, 01 October) at 11h00 the "South African Coalition Against Imperialist Aggression in Syria" will be holding a press conference to announce details of an upcoming protest march scheduled for Friday (04 October 2013 in Pretoria/Tshwane). Venue: 4th Floor, COSATU House, 110 Jorissen Street, Braamfontein
Speakers: Representatives from the SACP, COSATU, WFTU, YCL, SASCO, BDS South Africa, Palestine Solidarity Alliance and others.
The "Coalition Against Imperialist Aggression in Syria" is made up of South African political parties, trade unions and civil society organizations including the South African Communist Party (SACP), Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU), World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU), Young Communist League (YCL), South African Students Congress (SASCO), Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against Israel in South Africa (BDS South Africa), Communication Workers Union (CWU), National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA), National Union of Mineworkers (NUM), National Education, Health and Allied Workers Union (NEHAWU), Muslim Students Association Union (MSA), Palestine Solidarity Alliance (PSA) and other organisations.
The purpose of the protest march is to condemn the US-led and Israeli supported imperialist aggression, war-mongering, killing, human rights abuses and plunder, particularly in Syria as well as the broader Middle East. More details regarding the purpose of the protest as well as details for Friday's protest will be made available at tomorrow's press conference.
