Stitchin', Bitchin' and Knitting with Telegraph Poles 1st May 2007

Still-unexpectedly-sunny Greetings to You People of the Knit

We hope that this newsletter finds you well, slapping on the factor 25, revving up your needles and primed for a long Bank Holiday weekend of knitting and keeping ants out of your sandwiches and scotch eggs.

This week’s meeting on the good ship Queen Mary was very pirate flavoured. We admired a knitted eye patch, were astounded by the fastest knit skull and crossbones jumper in creation, were charmed by our Canadian visiting knitter (thanks for the fabulous crochet kitchen accessories) who learned a new skill and made lots of new friends (awwww), and felt slightly unsettled whenever the boat rocked. All the right ingredients for a fine S&B London meeting.

In other news we have the hugest BARGAIN YARN SALE for you all. So those of you who don’t normally read the newsletter (we know you are out there) may want to scroll down before the rest of us buy it all!

Please note: The day for the next meeting was wrong on the last newsletter. It will be TUESDAY! Please don’t turn up on the wrong day and blame us. We are warning you in capital letters.

Also don’t forget we are knitting at the farm this Saturday (scroll down for details)!

On to this week’s news:

And while you’re there check out all the other beasts, maybe buy some fresh farm eggs, and gaze up in wonder at Blaze, possibly the biggest horse on earth.

Stitch and Knitting with Everything! Delve into the knitted world of Dave Cole to discover that you really can knit with anything: licence plates, porcelain, lead, dollar bills, and even Kevlar (yep, that’s the stuff they use to stop bullets).

As promised in last week’s newsletter he also produces works on a HUGE scale.

Stitch and Brand New Knitty

We love it, you love it, and if you don’t love it as you have never heard of it then you will love it.

The new online issue of Knitty is out. We bow to its free pattern wondrousness.

That really is all we have for you this week, and to be quite honest we are pretty sure you are all off buying the cheap yarn and not listening to us anyway. See many of you at the farm at the weekend (no stealing sheep to create your own yarn at home), and the rest of you at a meeting very soon.

Happy knitting and may the stitch be with you…always.
