You’ve been in the studio on a new project. Can you talk abut it?
Sure. There is one new song on it, based on the album concept, “Old Country Still Rocks.” The rest are cover songs. More obscure than the hits. I’ve recorded a Johnny Lee song that Chick Rains wrote by himself years ago, a Waylon Jennings song, a Steve Wariner song, Milk Cow Blues and others … I wanted to redo “Drinkin’ Thing,” but Ronnie Dunn recorded it recently on his new project.
When are you going to start moving some cows?
I don’t know. I’ve been looking for a place. Things have gotten too busy around here for me. I need more peace and quiet than I’m getting right here.
I should have asked when are you going to start selling some cows?
The two bulls are ready to sell. The boys have gotten big. They’re funny. I was out there yesterday getting some hay for them and the one that has all the personality came up from behind and butted me, wanting to play. It can get a little rough, but it was funny. He’s so much fun.
It can be tough getting attached to them when you’ve raised them to sell.
Yeah, I’m going to miss the one. That’s Titan, he’s a big old goofy kid. He looks like he has an orange Mohawk. The other bull calf doesn’t have the personality. He’s just kind of there. He’s the one with the blood line.
(Some personal chit chat)
I know you’re busy. Have a good rest of the day.
