Richard Warburton Lodge 9767
|
The Richard Warburton Lodge was founded in 2003 to commemorate the Late Richard Warburton, the former Provincial Grand Secretary and all too briefly Provincial Grand Master designate. Until now, membership of the Lodge has been restricted to secretaries and scribes, but at a recent meeting of the lodge the By-Laws were changed to allow all Masons in the Province to join.
At the instigation of the Provincial Grand Master, The Richard Warburton Lodge is to become a lodge of education and information. A centre of excellence within the Province which will provide bespoke training and specialist seminars throughout the Province on a range of different subjects. The Lodge will also be the base of the new Provincial Demonstration Team aimed at showing how well delivered ritual makes a big difference to the enjoyment of the Brethren. Finally the lodge will be the home of the Provincial Masonic Research Team who will research and write a paper each year on a topic chosen by the members of the lodge.
Participation in all these exciting new ventures is open to all masons within the Province. Please contact the Richard Warburton lodge secretary, James Ross, asec@wwmason.com in the first instance.

Aeron Lodge's Super 6 in possession of the Travelling Gavel. Da iawn.
|
Worshipful Master of Aeron Lodge 7208, W Bro Tommy Jones led a team of Aeron Lodge members to the Peterwell Lodge meeting on Thursday 16th April 2015. Their reward was to come away in possesion of the West Wales Travelling Gavel. The team is pictured above, with W Bro Tommy holding the gavel. |
The St Padarn 13 Claim the Gavel |
The Travelling Gavel is now back at the beginning with Saint Padarn Lodge, who made sure they
claimed it with a healthy visitation of 13 to their sister lodge Aeron
on the 23rd of April (total visitors 21). It could be your lodge hosting
21 visitors at a domestic meeting, you just need to claim
the Traveling Gavel!
The Gavel has been successfully making its way round the province prompting visits to various domestic meetings and boosting numbers at the festive board greatly. So far it has been round Pembrokeshire and is currently touring Ceredigion.
The last meeting of Saint Padarn before the recess is on Thursday 21st of May tyling at 6:30 pm and lodge officers are conferring a fellow craft degree on Bro David Cooper.
Will the Traveling Gavel stay in Ceredigion or return to Pembrokshire or even make its first venture across the border to Carmarthenshire ?
If it is not claimed at Saint Padarn in May it will be there until November, so why not plan a road trip, but please remember to contact the Assistant Secretary W Bro Peter Matthys on 01974 831 451 or email:- p.matthys@btinternet.com by Monday 18th May.

From left to right - Bro Ian Brodie, RW Bro Stephen D Hookey
and W Bro James Ross.
|
Bro Ian Brodie returned from his recent trip to Australia bearing gifts. Bro Ian went to visit Bro Gwyn Joseph, the maker of The Provincial Travelling Gavel at his home in Sydney. Not only was Bro Ian afforded a fantastic Aussie welcome, but he was also presented with three beautifully hand-crafted pens made from the same piece of Mulga wood as the Travelling Gavel. The pens were made to acknowledge the contribution made by RW Bro Stephen Hookey, Provincial Grand Master; W Bro James Ross, Provincial Assistant Grand Secretary and Bro Ian himself in setting up and launching the Provincial Travelling Gavel in 2014.
Bro Ian arranged to present the pens at the recent Installation meeting of the Kensington Lodge of Installed Masters in Llanelli. This was a particularly fitting venue as Bro Gwyn has many happy memories of his early years in South Wales and he especially enjoyed his visits to the Masonic Centre in Llanelli.
As can been seen in the photo, all three lucky recipients of the pens were delighted to receive them and they have proved to be quite a talking point at subsequent meetings!
