    More thefts in our area..

Over the last couple of months I seem to be reporting more and more thefts in our local area, most but not all related to boats, fuel etc.

We have three more incidents this last week, one where tools were stolen from a locked tool box off a truck at Church Point Car park; a boat stolen, then found at Portuguese beach with the motor removed, and another where tools were removed from a boat tied up at Tennis Wharf,

Time for all of us to keep a good look out for anything untoward, take note and report and help protect our area. Don't hesitate to let the local police know if you suspect something, or see anything suspicious. How about using your smart phone to take a photo if you suspect something is not right. You never know it may just be the little bit of information that you provide which allows the authorities to apprehend the offender ! And if you are a local that's nicking our stuff then go somewhere else before you are caught - you are not wanted here !

Tool stolen from truck at CP.

I've had tools stolen from church point car park on Tuesday 17 th February and the 23 rd February both at night. Can you let people know they are targeting steel lock up boxes on the back of trucks.

    Stolen polycraft

A 4.1m blue polycraft was stolen from Carols wharf overnight Friday 27th/Saturday 28th of February. We discovered it missing at 8am this morning, and last saw it about 6pm last night.

The water police have since recovered the hull from Portuguese Beach, but the 40hp Yamaha outboard was removed and is still missing.

This has caused a huge issue for a young family, as my husband needs to leave for work at 5am, before the taxi or ferry are running.

If anybody saw anything or has any information that may be able to help us locate the outboard motor, it would be very much appreciated.

    Outboard details:
    40hp 2 stroke Yamaha
    Model # 40VMHD
    Serial # 1000048

    REWARD OFFERED.
    Phone 0432 088 355 or 0425 376 986

    Theft at Tennis

Ah, the joy of coming to your boat in the morning to discover it has been raided for spare parts!   The theft from our boat involved screw drivers and tools and was thus planned - fuel obviously wasn't on their shopping list this time!  As everything was there yesterday afternoon when I parked the boat at Tennis and unfortunately wasn't there this morning, this has happened at Tennis.  We have reported this to the Water Police.

All I can say is be it local or not, yet again we are reminded to keep a look out for unusual activities - if it looks a little weird chances are something is a miss.

    Regards Linda and Jonathan

    Pittwater Artist's Trail

    Weekend of 7-8 Marchflyer

Residents and visitors to Pittwater can combine their love of walking with a love of the arts with the next Pittwater Artist's Trail.

The public can visit 20 artists and artisans’ home studios across Pittwater during the weekend of 7-8 March.

The Pittwater Artist’s Trail which is in its 5th year is coordinated by Pittwater Community Arts and aims to showcase the local area’s artistic talents.

According to Pittwater Mayor, ‘Pittwater is home to painters, jewellery-makers, sculptors and many other creative people and this is a great opportunity to view their work in their studios.’

Participating craftspeople and artists are listed in a brochure which is available at numerous cafes and businesses along with community centres and libraries.

Vicki Ratcliff from Pittwater Community Arts said home studios can vary from the kitchen table, to the extraordinary Pittwater vista of the historical home of third generation artist Nada Herman.

Ms Ratcliff said you can see incredible works varying from international Pop Art, encaustic painting, glass art, ritual objects, lithographs, to our Pittwater national treasure, ceramicist Willi Michalski.

“Trail goers will be welcomed into the creative worlds of artists where they can converse with the artists and buy directs at great prices should they wish,” added Ms Ratcliff.

The brochure provides information on each participating artist and their work. A handy map is also included in the brochure indicating the location of the artist’s home studio.

A series of open weekends will also be held later this year on 5 - 6 September and then from 5 - 6 December.

    The Shocking Truth About...

Not Picking Up Your Dog’s Poop !

    by Justin @ TheILoveDogsSite

Sure, we all know that it’s rude and disgusting to not clean up after your dog, but some of these facts really surprised me. Especially the very last one.

How do you react when you see someone who doesn’t pick up their dog’s poop?

Church Point CafeArtists play between 3-6pm

    Artists play between 3-6pm

Sun March 1: Costa Rae :image

Sun March 1: Costa Rae play an alluring blend of Indie folk. It’s a richly textured sound, reminiscent of times gone by delivered in their own unique fashion.

Since releasing ‘Shot from the moon’ (Tony Buchen - The Preatures, Washington, John Butler) the band has toured both Australia and Brazil extensively, playing festivals such as Peats Ridge, Open Arms and supporting the likes of The Beautiful girls, Jeff Lang and Ash Grunwald. Costa Rae played at the Co-Op club for the first time last November and they were fantastic!

“…harmonies, thoughtful lyrics and strong songwriting...’Shot From The Moon’ is an album to get to know so by the time summer comes around you can be singing along during festival season or firing it up as the soundtrack to a lazy Sunday afternoon” - Monique Cowper, Drum Media

Sun March 8: The Backsliders :image

The Backsliders.  Australian blues legends Dom Turner & Rob  Hirst (Midnight Oil) with Joe Glover will present a very special ‘campfire’ blues session, performing in acoustic mode taking their 21st Century blues back to it’s pre-war origins for 2 sets at the Co-Op Club on Sunday March 8, 2015. The band will perform acoustic versions of their originals as well as treatments of 1920’s songs by blues heroes such as Mississippi Fred McDowell and Robert Johnson.
This is a one-off event not to be missed!

    Sunday March 8, 2015 3-6pm
Tickets $15 at the door but strongly suggest pre booking on 9999 2793

…without a dispute the best blues band in Australia. Their material is impeccable and their musicianship is a wonder to behold…” – SMH

Sun March 15: Matt Trapnell & The Sly Dogs :image

Matt Trapnell & The Sly Dogs return to the Co-Op Club for their first gig for 2015.

Our beloved house band play once a month and the word is spreading about this very cool outfit with their own brand of dirty blues & funky grooves & special guests.

Sun March 22:  Acca Daiquiries :

Acca Daiquiries are an established Sydney-based jazz quartet (piano, bass, drums and saxophone/vocals) specialising in hip and original arrangements of some of the great pop and rock songs of the past half century, giving them a swinging and refreshingly contemporary sound.

The repertoire includes swing versions of ‘Wild Thing, ‘Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again’, ‘Stairway to Heaven’ & Latin versions of ‘Long Way to the Top’, ‘Smoke on the Water’ & ‘Sunshine of your Love’. .

Sun March 29:  Liza Ohlback :

Liza Ohlback covers all styles of blues, including jazz, gospel, soul & swamp. With a voice that can growl, howl or soothe your furrowed brow this 2013 triple blues ‘Chain Award’ winner for her album Trouble Goin Down can deliver her unique style with frankness and a wicked sense of humour. She will be joined by Dave Longo on guitar, Geoff Rosenberg bass &  Greg Ohlback drums/vox.

    Australia's Largest Selling Wine Syndicate

    REMINDER

    Sunday March 22nd, 3 - 5pm.

    Greetings

Can you feel the chill winds of winter? I certainly can't and it may be necessary to stock up the beverage cupboard (or room) for those delightful autumn barbecues and parties that we all look forward to.

The Wine Syndicate is holding its next tasting from 3pm on Sunday March 22nd. You and your offshore friends are cordially invited. It is likely to be at Greg and Louise Robert's home at Pittpoint at the North end of Scotland Island. But like the seasons, this location may change. Watch for updates!

As to the wines - I suspect they have yet to be chosen. But as always they will be of great quality and at an excellent price. We will let you have the tasting notes and the price list as soon as they come to hand.

    See you there...

    Wanted - Property to Rent

    Short Term Accommodation Sought

I’m looking for a boatshed or a small cottage to rent in Elvina or Lovett Bay (accessible by foot from the Elvina Wharfs) for a couple of weeks for my Mum who is coming to visit from the UK. She’s a carer so she doesn’t have a big budget so something small would be perfect.

The dates are 7th to 19th April.
Please get in touch if you think you could help.

I’m also looking for a house to rent for the weekend 17-18th April when we have more family arriving and so need a spill over space for a few nights. Three bedrooms plus would be great. All visitors are adults – no kids or dogs – and we essentially just need the extra bedroom space so they’ve somewhere to lay their heads so the kitchen doesn’t need to be large, etc.

Please get in touch if you have a vacant property and are able to help.
    Many thanks, Rachael Babin Rachael@PittwaterDigital.com.au or 0450 254 533.

Lovely family looking for house to rent on Scotland Island.

We have recently returned to the island and would love to resettle amongst friends and neighbours.  We are seeking a two bedroomed house, which would be ideal but would consider all options, big or small which could accommodate myself and 2 children.

Great tenant, happy to tend or 'tame' the garden, references available.

Please call Lizzie 0477 939 408 if can anyone help or know of any options.

    Studio/Boathouse Accommodation Wanted

My partner and I, both writers, are looking to spend some time offshore this year in order to delve deep into the writing process without disruption.

Do you have a quiet, creative, and beautiful space from which we can work and live for a few months in order to finish our projects? We're happy to house sit/look after your place in the winter whilst you're away if necessary.

We are unable to offer money in exchange, however we would love to gift/pay it forward in any way we can in exchange for our stay.

Please contact Aimee via text if you can assist us:
