The most important trade fair of the year in Europe for cleaning systems, building management and services is taking place on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds from 22 to 25 September.

The International CMS Congress attracted a great deal of interest on its debut in 2013 and the second such event, at CMS 2015, is being held under the main theme of “People and the Market”. The discussions will focus on a global exchange of ideas between specialists and professionals from the international cleaning industry. The CMS Congress is taking place on 23 and 24 September at Marshall-Haus and a fee is payable. Applications should be made to: www.cms-berlin.com -> CMS Congress.
Information can also be obtained from the CMS Forum, which is free of charge, as well as from other accompanying events and seminars. No matter what area of commercial cleaning technology the conference participants come from: in addition to a complete overview of the market in the exhibition halls, at CMS 2015 they will also have access to the latest information at the workshops, seminars and conferences. Participation in the CMS Forum is free of charge for anyone attending CMS 2015.
At the start of the fair leading industry representatives will be present at Marshall-Haus for the opening ceremony of CMS 2015 on 22 September (10.30 a.m., invited guests only). The “CMS Purus Awards” are being presented here for the first time. Cleaning services are required by a great many local authorities and other public sector clients. The industry that they deal with has a number of noteworthy technical and legal features. In recent years few other areas of public procurement law have the review channels been dealt with in such detail. This imposes particular demands on the process of tendering for cleaning services. Bidding for lot-by-lot allocation, issues of suitability and evaluation, social insurance and labour law aspects as well as environmental and energy efficiency considerations are just some of the topics which have acquired growing importance. The new laws regarding pay rate commitments and the award of contracts in a number of German states contain further provisions which have to be considered when tenders are being invited.
  • 11.30 a.m. – 12.30 p.m.: CMS Press Breakfast,
    Marshall-Haus (by special invitation only)
  • 3 – 4 p.m.: CMS Forum “Collective Bargaining Policy“,
    Hall 1.2, Room Stuttgart
Collective bargaining negotiations for the 620,000 employees in the building cleaning sector began in June 2015. Under the experienced chairmanship of Hermann-Josef Arentz the prominent members of the panel will be providing first-hand details about the current state of the negotiations with the trade union IG BAU and will also report on the prospects for wage bargaining in the coming year. The discussions will also address the question of whether, after some years of agreement on wages in Germany, a conflict can be expected, as has already been the case with day care centres, the railways and airline pilots.  Speakers: Thomas Conrady, Member of the BIV National Board and Chairman of the BIV Collective Bargaining Committee, Iris Helbeck, Senior Executive of the Brandenburg-East Guild, Stephan Schwarz, Member of the BIV National Board, Mike Schneider, Deputy Chairman of the BIV Collective Bargaining Committee,

In the hotel industry professional standards of cleanliness and hygiene make a significant contribution to a feeling of wellbeing. This goes without saying, or? But what aspects should one consider, as a responsible buyer, in order to be able to choose a suitable and reliable provider of hotel cleaning services? The main points will be highlighted, from the legal parameters that must be complied with, to quality requirements and staff training for the service provider.

In addition to the cleaning of buildings, many building cleaning service providers also offer catering services. These range from full scale catering to the dispensing of food. In all of these cases it is essential to supply or distribute the legally required information about any allergens contained in the food. The need to provide explanations is a very important aspect of such liability and all companies must therefore take steps to ensure the reliable provision of such details. A number of suitable examples will be discussed.

    3.30 – 4.15 p.m.:
“Safe Process Technology in the Cleaning of Hospitals”.

Speaker: Udo Weissmantel, multi service provider.

Here the emphasis is on the effective supervision of cleaning and hygiene processes in the cleaning of hospitals through the use of quality management and measurement systems that can be monitored, managed and documented using forms as well as software. It also involves cleaning systems and systems for processing cleaning textiles, ensuring that hospitals can be cleaned with the necessary quality and hygiene standards. Effectiveness – transparency – safety: these are the advantages offered by the IT-controlled process technology with which we make your everyday work more efficient.

    4.15 - 5 p.m.:
“Tendering for Services – Avoiding Legal Traps – Mobilising Commercial Success Factors”.

Speaker: Siegfried Loewenguth, Dipl.-Kfm. Chief Executive, lifeline Beratungsgesellschaft für Betriebsorganisationsplanung im Gesundheitswesen mbH.

For many health care facilities the award of contracts for services continues to be of primary importance in their efforts to maximise their potential.  But to what extent a potential actually exists, how it can be exploited, and to what extent, is not always unambiguously defined. All too often clients left are dissatisfied with the award of contracts and the ensuing collaboration with the appointed service company, despite the fact that all the prerequisites for lasting success were available beforehand. This paper seeks to show the individual pitfalls prior to and during the award process, the criteria that should be applied to avoid unpleasant surprises after the contract has been awarded, and the minimum requirements that should be included in the award documentation. Service level agreements are used to show how the quality of the contractor’s services are managed following adoption of the service areas and, at the same time, how an internal management and monitoring system can be implemented for the services to be provided.
