PASADENA DEVELOPMENT

THIS SATURDAY, DECEMBER 16 AT CHURCH POINT.

BE THERE AT 9 AM AND BE HEARD

(MEDIA PHOTO SHOOT AT 9:15)

In August 2017, Northern Beaches Council announced plans to compulsorily acquire the long-derelict Pasadena site. This was welcome news. However, now there is a false claim that an operating Pasadena is in the interests of the community as work proceeds with a plan to reopen for Christmas using a construction approval from 1963!!! Really?

Let’s not allow this development to destroy Church Point and undermine years of careful planning! Remember, more parking and associated works are being funded largely through permits by offshore residents!

WE MUST SHOW THAT THE PASADENA DEVELOPMENT IS NOT WANTED!

WE SAY NO TO THIS DEVELOPMENT

Parking Fines on McCarrs Creek Road

Some residents have brought to SIRA’s attention fines they have received while parked in non-Church Point Parking Permit areas along McCarrs Creek Road. A Council Ranger has advised that the fines are the result of cars being parked too close to the unbroken white lines in the middle of the road. Here is what the Roads and Maritime Services website says in relation to this law:

You must not stop your vehicle (that is, bring it to a stop and either stay with the vehicle or leave it parked) in the following circumstances:  …Within three metres of any double centre lines”

People have also been fined for parking in the pull-in/drop off bay near Commuter Wharf. The Ranger has advised that parking in Church Point will be more closely patrolled in the future.

AUSGRID Anounces Plans

Ausgrid has announced plans to roll out improvements to our electricity infrastructure.

The following benefits will be achieved once these plans have been executed:
  •     A second cable to the Island will reduce the risk of sub marine damage causing an outage, to almost zero
  •     Insulators in the Island circular network will mean a tree fall incident no longer means the whole island will experience a prolonged outage
  •     The second cable's duct will be able to be used by the NBN and bring fibre to the island!
