NASHVILLE NAVY SHOW
Biggest crowd ever for the Nashville Navy show. Biggest show ever, too. Several go-rounds of artists performed. Wade was on stage with Brother Trouble, Chad Brownlee, Keith Anderson and Ray Scott. Wade contributed I’m Gettin’ Too Old for This, Old Enough to Know Better and Don’t Make Me Come to Tulsa. Lots of good-natured banter going on between the group as well as crowd-pleasing music.
FRIEND’S FEST
A bright and early morning, Friday, June 10, saw a capacity crowd at the Copper Kettle for the Wade Hayes’ Friends Fest. The Kettle did its usually superb job with the food for the event. And Wade did a more than superb job with the acoustic set that he played for the group.
Asking for requests, he complied with ~
From his early albums - Don't Make Me Come to Tulsa, What I Meant to Say, The Day that She Left Tulsa and On a Good Night.
From the latest album, “Place to Turn Around” - Good Day to Go Crazy and God Made Me (to Love You).
Wade also featured “I’m Gettin’ Too Old for This,” a recorded, but as yet unreleased one that’s a real crowd pleaser.
Especially appealing were two new songs that he’s working on. The group was touched by the emotional content of As If I Didn't Know and Come Back Story. Though we didn’t hear complete versions of these songs, you could tell by the audience reaction to what we did hear that they could well be chart-toppers.
Wade did tell the group that he’s working on a new project. There’s no date for it’s completion yet. He’s been writing again with Chick Rains, co-writer of his first two number one singles. He’s also working again with his first producer, Don Cook.
Our Door Prize Winners were Carole Coale, Tonya Dudley, Vickie Piper and Charlotte Schudlick. Each received a gift bag with a specially designed magnet (bag and magnet design courtesy of Terri Robison), a gift certificate to Target and a song lyric (their choice) hand written by Wade.
WSM/DURANGO ACOUSTIC BOOTH
Wade was very well received by the standing room only crowd in the room. I only heard the last 6 minutes of the broadcast. If any of you out there caught it plese, let me know.
